I know we were sure our parents never had deep thoughts, had wild sex or did anything like we did. Now at 56 I realize they did and think it's funny when I read an article about how our children think they have discovered something new. Technology has changed but not philosophy.

The problem here is your fundamental premise: “there is no right or wrong answer”.

Clearly your premise is wrong, and in fact there is a “right or wrong answer”; that is why the questions are being asked, and why these kind of discussions persist.

Regarding the other points you raise: all are valid observations, and presumably will be addressed by the people doing the research. It will be interesting to see what they come up with, assuming they publish.

Yes, definitely a hilarious incident; I have to admit I got some jollies out of hearing about it.

The downside of it is that it raises the question as to what kind of doofus bozos we have running this universe. Seems like we have been stuck with the frat boys of God U.

I also laughed. But seriously there are a insurmountable number of possibilities why some live and some die. I am sure that many of us here can recount an event in our lives where, at one time or another a decision, intervention, or gut feeling swayed us away from disaster. Are all of us subject to a life saved, now wasted?

The notion that a predetermined plan exists for all of us has yet to be proven! As does the idea that we are meant to stay within the plan or else the remnants of our lives are going to be unpleasant. That idea (at least for me) leans towards improbable grandeur.

But then again, this is just an opinion from a new comer.

Repeating myself, this has been happening since the very beginning. Does fate start over for every person at birth? Has someone else not getting hit by a car when they should have been been taken in to consideration on my life's path? I think anarchy has it's place in this debate.

Personally I do not believe if someone who is not known to you, or who will never cross your path in any way shape or form has any effect upon your life, whether or not they die on cue. Our paths are our own. And fate is a connotation of predetermined outcome. From what I understand of life, fate and destiny are terms meant for heroic characters in novels and films "This is my destiny!" or "My fate has been foretold to me".

Life in general is anarchy. The universe is full of anarchy. That is until science, or some brilliant mind come ups with a universally accepted mathematical computation to explain all past events and predict all future events for everyone and everything, every cause and every effect. Then anarchy will become order.
