I don't really believe in the supernatural, probably because I've never experienced anything supernatural. However, my girlfriend is an absolute believer, claiming she saw a ghost when she was 15. Any attempts to try and reason with her gets her angry, and then we get in an argument. She's level headed, extremely bright, and a college graduate. But when it comes to ghosts... :P

So what do you guys think of this?

There may be an explanation for things like ghosts and hauntings. And it's not your mind simply playing tricks on you.

Are you hearing weird sounds, briefly seeing ghostly images, feel a presence in the room with you, or an inexplicable and sudden sense of overwhelming fear?

It just might be infrasound.

Can anyone with a science background confirm? Is there any truth to infrasound being the reason?

Infrasound can have the effect that was described on some people, as can sensitivity to EMF, exposure to chemicals, some biological agents and a number of other things.
Now, just because there are alternate explanations, it doesn't mean that your girlfriend did not see what she says she saw...

As usual the infrasound explanation addresses a limited number of potential experiences in a limited number of people. It does not address more complex phenomena and certainly says nothing about PK and poltergiest effects. What is needed is a more complete and far-reaching proposal which addresses all aspects of the various phenomena and abilties that have been observed over the centuries.
