The Exorcist still gives me the willies.  I keep waiting for someone to make one even scarier, but haven't found it yet.  I've got it on video at home, but the ultimate is watching it on the big screen late at night!

Ok, I voted for other film. If you're talking SPOOKY I have to vote for the Legend of Hell House. The rest were pretty good for "jumpers" but not SPOOOOKYYYYY. The BOOK of Amityville was darned scary. I guess my imagination is just creepier then anything Hollywood can hit me with. Gore? I can take it or leave it... especially Tipper, but for SPOOKY... Hell House or the ORIGINAL The Haunted. Spooooooookyyyyyyyy :)

I'm tired of Holywood spitting out gore and calling it horror!  Give me a thriller any day.

The Ring was cleverly done, but didn't scare me a bit (maybe I should rent Ringu).

IT is an all-time classic, as is Poltergeist (the first one).

I didn't lose my mind - I have it backed up on a disk ... somewhere

I'm gonna have to agree with Mykie...lol. Legend of Hell House was just wonderfully done (btb, that IS that black and white movie that had the doors bowing in and out, right? ;D) and there wasn't one hint of anything gory or ghostly in the whole picture, but it was just hella CREEEEPY! lol

But yeah, definite nods to Exorcist, and the Ring. For some reason, I just didn't GET the Shining, lol...I kept asking too many questions during the movie to get totally weirded out! lol

The Shining is creepy. Those freaky twin girls. "Come play with us. Forever and ever and ever." Blah. Gives me the willies.

I just saw them on a "where are they now" on VH1. They are STILL recognized in England and go to convetions just to do the "forever and ever and ever" thing.

Crone I agree with you.  There hasn't been a movie to top the Exocist.  I guess because that movie is much more believable than any other. I mean it's something for a child to strike that much terror [smiley=cwm4.gif] and not even leave her bed.

I LOVED Phantasm, and got to speak with Angus Scrimm at a convetion once. For a scary movie monster, what a nice man.
