Do some research first, have they been tested by others and proven themselves?  Or did they just write a few books and make a name for themselves?  Usually you will find many who have never taken such steps to prove their claims.  Others actually get defensive if you dare question them.  Still others are running websites and businesses taking money from people who fall for their claims.

The problem is often you can't find anything other than their own claims supporting them.   Yet every day people continue to deal with unproven psychics and mediums.    You are left on your own to prove or disprove their claims.

So do it.  Before you accept them make them prove themselves to you.  If you are considering consulting with anyone, go slow.  Ask a few questions of them, but make them questions you alreasdy know the answers to, and something no body else can be expected to know.  Then see how the responses go.

First put on your skeptic's hat; approach them as a skeptic would, not someone who believes they have any ability at all.  Consider how they answered your questions....Are they vague or very defined?  Did they actually answer the question or skirt the issue?  Can you think of more than one interpretation to their response?  Did they become defensive in their response?  Or might they have completely ignored certain aspects of the questions?  And even worse did they actually challenge you for doubting their abilities?

Their reaction to your line of questioning can reveal much about their claims.  After all, why would anyone who has a proven ability have to defend themselves when all you are trying to do is verify somethey themselves claim?  Unless of course they are not as sure of themselves as they want you to believe.  And right there is the answer to their credibility, and whether or not you are well advised to put any stock in them.

I've done psychic stuff since I was a child, but never for profit. We all have psychic abilities, some more than others. Whether you call it intuition, second sight, etc., we all have some instinct to some extent. I can't say that all advertised psychics are valid or capable, any more than I could say every doctor, lawyer, etc. is valid. It's hard to certify what is hard to test "scientifically".

I have studied mediumship for the past 4 years, and I have had some great evidence from teachers and some students. I don't consider myself a medium, although I was able to give decent proof now and then that I was able to connect with someone. I've stopped because I'm not a natural at it. Most go deeper into it to either do platform work in Spiritualist churches or consult with clients. Neither of these appealed to me. I didn't stop because I was skeptical.

Again here, most of us have some mediumistic abilities that are linked with the psychic or intuitive senses mentioned above. Only a few are truly able to see or hear people who have "passed on". The only college I know of that has a certification program for mediums is the Arthur Findley College in the UK. They have a rigorous program, because reputation is everything in that field.

There have been many validated studies over the last few centuries of people who were finally validated by reputed scientists at those times as being truly creating phenomena. These studies are available in books for you to read.

The problem is that this area is not accepted by conventional scientists because conventionally accepted wisdom says this is all hockum. You can't test it easily in controlled situations, and each generation questions the results of the previous generation.

If a surgeon leaves a forceps in your abdomen, you don't automatically assume that all surgeons will do so. Not all psychics or mediums are wallet vampires either. I went to a therapist who was also a tarot reader and had a great session. However, I rarely go to psychic faires anymore, and I've never called a psychic hotline.

Who owns the land? Only the land knows. We mortals are passersby, and our lives are but a brief moment in the great span of time and space. We are born, we live out our lives, and most of us do the best we can with it, but the wind is forever, and the rivers flow forever to the sea, and all the seasons of the weathers will come and go after we are gone. But the Earth endures, the Earth is eternal" - Earl Hamner

Everyone has psychic abilities, but we seldom nurture them, especially because of the "rat-raced" lifestyle that we have these days.

There is nothing wrong when a psychic want to charge for their service, but there is no surety in the authenticity if they really have psychic powers.

And as far as I know, as an energy healer, people proper psychic power never predicts, because future is always dynamic, can be altered.

I believe in probability vs chaos in life.

When I'm doing a card reading for someone, the cards show probability based on past patterns, your habits, and current conditions. Just as in trend analysis, you can see what someone is likely to do, or what is likely to happen. However you stress the person's ability to change behavior to change outcome. We all have free will, and therefore can usually change the final outcome proposed by the cards, if we want to.

Now and then, I can get a sort of inspiration of something that I feel will happen, and it does. But this is rare, and I would not invest in the stock market based on an inspiration.

If I do feel something awful will happen, I do not tell the person. I will instead talk around it, giving suggestions of how to do better in life, which will usually help avoid the bad thing. Whether the person is receptive or interested in changing bad habits is up to them.
