There are several very active places close to me. In Van Lear, Ky the old Consolidated Coal building is now the local historical society and museum. Lovely old building that in addition to being the former Consolidated offices has also been (Sometimes simulatiously) a doctors office, bank, post office and jail. There are many, many spirits there and none are afraid to make themselves known. I have encountered a few of them myself.

A favorite spot of mine is the Middle Creek National Battlefield in Prestonsburg, ky. It was a small battle, not many died there but this is still a very active place.

I live in New Haven (CT) now, and I'm sure there are plenty of places that could be considered "haunted"...I just haven't bothered looking/reading for them. Maybe I'll have to start doing that one day.

Now, in my hometown (and they STILL won't acknowledge that I was born there! They NEVER have a parade, or anything like that, when I come back for a visit...!) of Southington (CT), there were plenty of places that could have been considered "haunted". One place, I'd written about years ago on this site (not sure if it's archived), and another one that's more well-known, however it is a private residence now, so if I did write about it, I won't mention the address. I'll have to come back later to write about it.

What about New Haven Green and Grove St cemetery? I had a friend who lived in New Haven for a time and she always mentioned these locations.

Oddly enough (talking about the New Haven Green)...the Green used to be a mass burial ground in colonial times. During Hurricane Sandy, an oak tree that was planted in 1909 was toppled by high winds. Within the root system of the tree (exposed for the first time since the tree was planted) were skeletal remains (possibly from more than one body) that were probably buried in the late 1700s. In 1779, Grove Street Cemetery was started, and some bodies (along with some tombstones) were relocated from the Green to that cemetery. But, local experts believe that up to 5,000 bodies are still beneath the Green.

Now, with that bit of current events and history written down for all to ponder...whether either of these locations are haunted...I don't know. I've never heard of anything happening on the Green. I've heard bits and pieces about things happening around Grove Street Cemetery, but honestly - I've never looked into it.

I saw an article about that yesterday. It really wouldn't surprise me if there were still thousands of bodies under the green. It wouldn't be the first time that bodies were suppose to be relocated and wasn't.

My first impression, when I read the article, was about the movie "Poltergeist". The swimming pool scene.

There are a number of places around Houston that are supposed ot be haunted, such as the subdivision in Crosby supposedly on which "Poltergeist" is based. My ex-wife and I were almost given a lot out of that subdivision by her father, but the lot was limited on building location due to the placement of a pipeline running through the lot.
As for my personal experience, where I used to work in downtown Houston was at 102 San Jacinto. It's a county government building that was either built or added to in 1913. A former co-worker found a newspaper clipping in an old probate file that showed a picturre of the building or site when it was used as a mortuary prior to 1913. The block on which it sits is one of the original blocks platted to City of Houston when it was created back in 1837.
When I was made supervisor of the old records archive located in that building in August, 1990, I was immediately told of the stranges goings-on there; basically that is was haunted. I didn't have my first experience (that I know of) until 1995 when I saw a guy looking at me from across the lobby about fifteen feet from me. This is an experience I have posted elsewhere in this site. He disappeared in front of me when I started to chase him. I saw him in ghostly detail (a solid powdery baby blue) except for having no legs and no face. I then saw another apparition several months later in absolute human detail and color and thought it was a customer until he disappeared into a corner. After I left the employ of the county, I kept in touch with the employees. They would tell me about experiences from time to time, including the time an apparition appeard within a group of employees and jail trustees. They all saw it before it vanished.
Now the building is empty except for an extension of the County Attorney's office, so I'm told. The county wants to tear down the building so as to utilize the entire block for whatever county purposes, unfortunately. I wish someone would investigate it before it is torned down. I don't possess the equipment for an investigation, but I think it would be a prime location. I may even have a little influence in getting permission for access as a former employee, but that would have to wait to be seen.
Then there is my house, but that's off limits to the public...unless one comes bearing gifts of money, great snacks, or naked women. Don't mind the protesting from my wife.

Visiting a relative in New Milford Ct. I loved going to the town green in the fall. All kinds of venders there selling plants, honey, crafts etc. Now after hearing this I'm wondering how many town greens have a secret beneath the soil.




jimmary, are you suggesting that your house has some spooky goings on?

There is a place in College Station Texas at a water tower where some people have reported hearing screams. When it was being built a man fell to his death there.

Puti, I'm not suggesting anything; it HAS spooking goings-on. We have had just about the run of it all: weird lights, touching, footsteps, shadow people, an apparition, shaking chair and bed (the shaking bed was about three weeks ago)...AND WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS OF THE HOUSE, IT'S ONLY 14 YEARS OLD! I haven't experienced any voices, though; I think my wife has. The good thing is, nothing bad has happened; it has all been matter of fact-sort of thing. We have lots of antiques, so it could be attachment, but I also have a deceased older brother who has visited my mother, so who knows what it is. I have so many theories regarding all of this.
My wife is an Aggie, so we are in College Station from time to time; we live in Spring, so we are not too far. I think I have heard of the water towner (I'll consult my two different haunted Texas books), but I would love to find out if there is a tour of haunted College Station.

Had one this past Friday night when we were trying to get the alarm to set.

We've been having trouble with the motion sensors by the 8th grade lockers and by the auditorium and the one up by the nurse's office sensing bugs/dust when we go to leave at night, and we've had to go clean/ bump them a bit to get them to work properly. This past Friday, my coworkers were up at the 8th grade ones, making sure the batteries were in right and I was headed up front to yell to them when the alarm was ready to be set. As I was heading up I saw what looked like a greyed-out version of one of our building's secretaries moving across the inner set of glass doors up front. maybe two minutes after this, Jo got the alarm back to working properly, and I told them about it.

Possibly. It freaked me out, though.

I bet. For whatever reason it happens I still would love to experience something like that, and even to see my own doppelganger. I know the superstition is that one dies when they see their own, but who knows; maybe MY doppelganger will die when it sees me.

ive only lived here for a short time but they say here that FT Vancouver WA is haunted and I have been to Shanghi Tunnels in Portland OR they are also said to be haunted.But I did not feel anything when I was down there. . Some of my friends talk about somplace close there is a old house that is reported haunted but I have not gotten anymore informaton on it Ill share it once I find out.
