Everywhere I go on this site my anti-virus software tells me it's blocked access to some site named searchinvented.com. You might want to find out what that's all about.

Cyborger, have you tried accessing GV from another computer?

The reason I ask is because it sounds like you might have picked up some sort of a Trojan.JS.Redirector, a nasty little bug that causes your browser to be redirected to searchinvented.com every time you try to access a page anywhere on GV (or anywhere else for that matter.) Trying it from another computer will probably pinpoint your computer as the source of the problem.

Your anti-virus is obviously updated and working, so kudos to you, but there's still the problem of what to do with the trojan causing the problem. I recommend downloading a trial version of Trojan Remover at Simply Super Software:

Trojan Remover

It's fully functional for 30 days after installation and does a great job of finding all sorts of digital organisms on your system. The best part is that it does an even better job of fixing the problem.

The reason I mention I this is because I recently picked up the same thing, and everytime I went to Google, it redirected my browser to some funky shopping site.

You may also want to read this thread from a few weeks back.

I didn't lose my mind - I have it backed up on a disk ... somewhere

One other thing - if you don't have a second to use for testing, try turning off javascript in your browser's configuration.

If you're using the latest version of Firefox, you can go to the top line menu and select Tools/Options/Content to find the javascript control. Just uncheck it to to turn off JS and then turn it back on once you're done.

If you're not redirected when you go to GV, then you probably have a trojan problem.

  • Interests:I love to sleep!!! I also enjoy reading, some of my favorite authors would be Stephen King, Anne Rice, and Edgar Allen Poe. My favorite tv shows are Ghost Hunters, America's Most Haunted, I Shouldn't be Alive, anything on the Discovery Health Channel, Myth Busters, Desperate Houswives, Grey's Anatomy, House, American Idol, Trading Spouses, The Simpsons, Family Guy, King of the Hill. But I obviously don't watch any tv. I also enjoy making new, pretty medic alert braclets, and earrings.

Oh man! I got hit by the trojan BIG TIME at the beginning of Jan. and was forced to live without my laptop for over a week (sob). I kept getting directed to this site that said I had 70 live infections and I needed todownload their anti virus software (which was crazy priced)... Luckily my dad works in the tech developement depart in IBM so with alot of frustration, crusing, and computer banging he was able to get it all worked out.
Love life.
