As the second anniversary of 9-11 approaches I thought some might like to share their thoughts, poems, condolences and for some memories, of that terrible day that has forever changed our nation.

Following is a poem that I wrote about 9-11. I wrote this in parts and when I put it all together in order it gave me chills.

I can remember this tragedy like it happened yesterday and I am very sure it will feel that way the rest of my life.  Periodically we (as a nation) go through these tradgedies and never forget.  I really want to thank Rhonda for sharing this wonderful piece of work with all of us.  I remember when she first shared it with me and told me how she wrote it....I got a chill that I can still feel writing this right now.  I will never forget watching on tv the thousands of innocent people loosing their lives right in front of my eyes.  My condolences go out to all the families touched by this horrible event and hope that we never have to go through anything like this again. :'(

I think we didn't learn anything from 9/11. I think we've failed the memories of the victims and the survivors.

The government denied that the fall of the building is causing respiratory illness in the people who lived very close to the site. The war in Afghanistan was retribution but 9/11 has been used as another excuse for American imperialism and to settle a score that has nothing to do with 9/11.

In case people haven't been paying attention, NOW the al Qaeda groups have started coming into Iraq. They weren't there before the war.

A very profound topic and a truly epic poem, Rah6655 :o
I had chills when I read it and really have to acknowledge this as masterful weaving

I almost lost an older sister on 9/11, she works in Manhatten, @30 blocks from the WTC, but I hurt for those who lost family...so here's my tribute

                     Ground Zero
The giant jolted to wakefulness,
roaring in pain and rage
as kamakazee blossoms bloomed,
raining fire and destruction.

It shuddered,
panicked as half-molten shrapnel exploded,
tottered and groaned with echoed sympathy,
as its twin shared its fate.

Steel supports and mirrored surface,
warped,
twisting back upon themselves,
a nightmare landscape of shark teeth.

Encastled yen-men, trapped by indecision,
plunged,
embracing familiarity of asphalt and cement,
to cold unknown of a tomb.

Terrified shrieks of children echoed,
lost in shattered depths.
The wail of approaching sirens,
rang with a nation's grief.

I do remember 9/11 very well.  One of the things that scared me was a rumor going around shortly after it had happend.  I do not mean to bring up old scars for anyone so please do not take it as such.. nor is it an attempt to start a flame war on this thread

It just always bothered me.. and was curious if anyone had seen or heard about this rumor.. and what their thoughts were about it....

Attached is a screenshot of my desktop in MS WORD 2002... illustrating the example.. this can also be done in WORDPAD for those who do not have MS Word.

A brief discription about this:  Rumored that one of the plane designations that had the letter/numbers as follows in the screenshot below:

Great poem Drew!  It is also very touching!  Thank you to all that have commemorated this horrible event.  I am sure somewhere people are feeling the energy of being remembered. :'(

Prayers and Blessings go out to those who lost their lives and to their families left to grieve...beautifully touching poems Rah6655 and Drew :'(

A Prayer I found that helps me remember there is peace and love in this world....

There is more light than shadow;
There are morn smiles than cares
More grass grows on the meadow
Than brambles, weeds, and tares
There is more song than weekpin;
There is more sun than rain
There is more golden reaping
Than lost and blighted grain
There is more peace than terror;
There is more hope than fear
There is more truth than error
More rights than wrongs appear
On the long road to glory
We climb more than we fall
And by and large the story
Comes out right after all
Either write things worth reading,
Or do things worth the writing.

Last September 11th we had a young man come into our circle with a message - he did say the name and with regret, I forget now who he said he was, but it was what he had to say that hit me the most.

Apparently he was up near the top, and he could probably have got out, but a friend in the same office who was in a wheelchair couldn't, so he stayed behind with his friend - they were holding each other until they passed over.

He remarked about the tributes that had been paid that day at Ground Zero as it had become known - to all who had lost their lives twleve months earlier, but he said that the greatest tribute that could be paid them would be - no war.  That nobody wanted retribution for what had happened.

I think that I would dedicate John Lennon's - Give Peace a Chance - on behalf of the young man who came back a year ago to utter those words - and for all those who lost their lives on that sad day.

phalynx, that's what they want you to believe.  ;)

The truth is out there, but some take it upon themselves to conceal that same truth.

Check out this link, truth or not, it is still eye opening:

phalynx: Snopes discussed your question here:
http://www.snopes.co...rs/wingding.htm

The rumors are wrong.  The designation Q33 is unrelated to either of the planes involved in the attack.

When you think about it, the whole thing is exceedingly silly.  The font Wingdings is something like ten years old.  For their to be any relation to September 11, you would have to believe that the attack had been planned by then with a level of detail I suspect to be impossible (because things like flight plans and plane designations change), communicated to Microsoft, who then, for absolutely no reason, encoded the plan into one of their fonts.  Silly.

Out of curiosity, I messed around a little with the Wingdings.  Among other things, I determined that in any three-letter string of capital letters, the chances of Wingdings giving a result that could be construed as predicting the September 11 attack are about one in a thousand (this number could vary signifigantly, however, depending on the exact method of calculation used, and what symbols you do or do not consider signifigant).  So it's interesting, but well within the realm of coincidence.

I also determined that if instead of entering NYC (New York City) you enter NYS (New York State), the thumbs up symbol becomes a tear.  Maybe the folks of Microsoft are in mourning...?
