It's official now. Alexa's father has asked me to speak for 5-10 minutes at the memorial service, so if you'd like to share any amusing anecdotes or just express how much Alexa will be missed, please send me a note here at GV or ourplace_fcn@yahoo.com.

I've been speaking publicly in many capacities over the years, but this is the first time I've ever had to speak at a memorial service, so help me out, Ghostvillagers! I want this to be a celebration of Alexa's life, not some tear-fest. I can assure you,, though, that I will have a tissue handy. I just want the room to be laughing while we're wiping our eyes!

you are an eloquent writer earth spirit and i trust that you will be and eloquent speaker as well and do a swell job at alexa's celebration and send off. there is a poem that i love and that you might want to read. i had it read and my mother's send off and i read it at a couple of send offs where i was asked to speak. i find it very comforting.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,I am not there; I do not sleep.I am a thousand winds that blow,I am the diamond glints on snow,I am the sun on ripened grain,I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hushI am the swift uplifting rushOf quiet birds in circling flight.I am the soft starlight at night.Do not stand at my grave and cry,I am not there; I did not die.

i wish you God speed my friend and keep us posted. i went on the website for where her service is and it is absolutely beautiful

Thanks for passing that along, queen. I have already sent Alexa's father a draft of what I'll be saying, and as part of my comments I'll be reading several of the messages that have been sent to me by all the wonderful people on GV. Since time will be a factor, I may not get to read them all, but I will print them out and make sure that her family is able to read them.

I'm in Estes Park now (right down the road from the world famous Stanley Hotel!) and will have an entire week to work on the presentation. The hardest part will not be speaking publicly, but rather trying to sum up the accomplishments of such an incredible person in only five minutes. Just hitting all the high points is going to take longer than that, so I hope I can compress it all into such a very short time.

Stay tuned . .

I was so saddened to hear this. Lexi was such an inspiring young woman and has left a lasting impression on many of us here. RIP special little angel. My heart goes out to to her family in this difficult time.

Night Star, I'll see Alexa's parents next Saturday at her memorial service, and I will pass those words along to them. Best regards to you, and we will hold the highest intention for your safe and rapid recovery . . .

I`m in nothing but shock....

I haven`t been on the site for a while since a lot has come up in life since I was last here...and I was so surprised to hear that another of our own have passed on.

I remember her kind words to me when I posted about my illness years ago, and I`ll never forget strength and encouragement she gave to all of us in our times of need, especially when she was going through her own pain.

I always sensed a smile and a hug in every one of her posts..she truly will be missed. May she fly high with the angels above ...just as she was an angel on earth.

Rest in peace Alexa..My condolences to your family.

My condolences to you all for the loss of your friend, and my condolences also to her family. She sounded like an inspiration to people. I wish I'd been a member here while she was around as it would have been great to have got to know her.

Thanks, Seaflora. Her family monitors the forums, so I'm sure they will see your condolences. But that's one of the nice things about Ghostvillage. As the Wheel of Life turns, we all eventually have to deal with the mortality of friends, family and eventually ourselves. It's nice to know that there are people out there in the cyberworld who care just as much about us as those in the real world.

It is, Moonie. And you know what? I still think of her every now and then... Especially when I'm working on some beading or hear If I Die Young on the radio.
