Famous playwright Arthur Miller passed away yesterday at the age of 89 due to heart failure. He is probably best known for his plays, Death of A Salesman, and the Crucible. The literary world lost a great writer.

Arthur Miller's passing is a great loss indeed.

Even in his later years, he was active in his art. I remember hearing that around 1982, he staged a huge production of Death of a Salesman in China, which is ironic given that stage of the country's political history.

The Crucible is definitely my favorite. I loved that play so much, and was able to convince my law professor to use it for a paper I did on the role of theater in law and religion.

Hunter S. Thompson, writer and "gonzo" journalist of the counterculture movement (most notably of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas"--Johnny Depp portrayed him in the movie), killed himself today. Wow.

Oh, that is sad about Jerry Orbach. One of my favorite works by him was his role as the gameshow host and disturbed father in the movie Magnolia. Powerful.

Jerry Orbach did pass away in December :) What a fantastic voice!

I'll miss Sandra Dee. She always thought that song about her in Grease was funny.
