It's also very telling that you were speaking German in your dream. Anyone in your family speak it? Could you have heard it from them?

earth spirit, I think you are doing a disservice to people by not believing they were ever rich or powerful. It is part of the lessons to be rich and poor, oppressed and the oppressor, etc.

I have been an empress and a slave who had her tongue cut out. I have been a concubine and a doctor's daughter. It's all part of the cycle. The lessons come from everywhere.

China has been around for thousands of years so I know each one of us has had more than one chinese incarnation. What we "remember" in this life usually has to do with things we learned or didn't learn in that former life that have an impact on this one.

And I don't seem to remember any of my male lives, why that is I don't know.

Man, I need to start writing down the topics I post at so I can remember to check them. In response to your question, no, no one in my family speaks German. In fact, I'm the only person in my family who can speak a foreign language. I remember my mom saying some things in French, just basic things you learn in the class, and, of course, the swear words.

I was told I was a concubine also; a high member of the church, a member of the royal family during the French Revolution (I was pulled off the throne and executed; which is where I get my fear of 'heights'). What's strange is I have hated the French ever since I was very young, and never knew why until this year. And good point, Petunia. We have to experience highs and lows for our soul's evolution.

The only past life I was told I had was I was a woman living on the prairie who's husband was killed by Indians. I had about 10 children and I died from exhaustion working the land I owned and raising my kids. Go figure!

Two points make it hard for me to believe in past lives.

First off, too many people claim to have been a historic figure. How many souls possessed Napolean? lol.

Secondly, the eartrh's population has never been as great as it is now. Who decides when each soul has its first earthly experience and how long it must wait for the next adventure?

According to some theories, WE decide when it is time to come back, and into what situations, according to what we need to learn to evolve. At certain points in this soul evolution, we can choose to come back here (to learn rapidly), stay in heaven (takes much, much longer), or even at the highest evolution to be absorbed back into the Godhead. Supposedly, (and this somehow rings true with me) we write our charts: sex, health, parents, circumstances, partners, children, jobs, etc. adding in five possible exit points along the way. Also, time passes much more quickly in heaven, so our time here on earth of 70+ years seems like only a few moments to those waiting for us on the other side. There have been many instnaces of children saying "Oh, do you remember when I was YOUR mommy/daddy/sister, etc." There was a documented case (think it was on Unsolved Mysteries, not sure) of a 3 y/o boy talking about his WWII experiences; and his parents were able to track the name, rank, the pilot's plane number, and other stuff about the man. As the child grew older, though, he stopped talking about it. His parents had kept very careful records, and did a lot of intensive research. I believe they either had video or audio tape of this kid just chatting away about his flying experiences..........it was spooky. These theories also say that that's why children die, they choose to take their "exit point" at an early age because they realize they've written too much into their charts. I don't know why but this comforts me in some odd way, because I can't take kids dying. Ever notice that really sick children seem oddly happy and upbeat? Maybe it's because their memories of "home" are so fresh. I hope this doesn't upset anyone. I find kids to be so pure and honest. I could not imagine losing a child. Ever.

Petunia, perhaps I should atone for my sins by saying that I'm skeptical of those who claim to have had "celebrity" incarnations. I think Aloha Spirit said it best:

The thought that we might be a powerful ruler in one life and a humble peasant in the next makes sense. The pendulum swings both ways, often to extreme, but eventually it will come back to center . . .

whenbothofourcarscollide, I was fascinated by the account of your incarnation as a German soldier. During the second PLR I did under hypnosis, I started spouting bits and pieces of Latin (I took a year of Latin in high school) and even after the session was over, words and scenes of ancient Rome flowed through my head like a river. If I ever do it again, I will be sure to spend some time meditating after the session. If I could have images like that flashing through my head while I'm driving home, I can only imagine what I might see sitting peacefully and focusing on my thoughts.

juliet_keller and bathory313, thanks for bringing up the question of birthmarks, as during my first PLR I saw myself as a very young and rather inept highwayman in 14th century England trying to take a young woman's horse and baubles (and perhaps her virtue) on a lonely stretch of road. All I got for troubles was the flash of a dagger. Though I don't remember actually being penetrated with the knife in my PLR, I've carried a port wine stain birthmark on the left side of my abdomen since I was born. The actor, Glenn Ford, was a vocal believer in reincarnation and was said to have had a birthmark in the center of his chest where was pierced by a rapier during a duel in a lifetime as a French cavalryman.

All this talk about reincarnation has reminded me of a song I haven't heard in years . . . if you're a Donovan fan, then I'm sure you've heard this one before:

Aloha, about the historical figure thing. I think many times people remember that person and the things that happened at that time so they think they were that person. For a time I was sure I had been Queen Elizabeth I of England, but I found out later that I had not been her but I had been in her court. I just identified with her, that's all.

I would love to have a chance to have a PLR, although I'm a little concerned that I'll be so excited/anxious, I won't be able to be hypnotized! I too have a fascination with Egypt and desperately want to go there one day. I even have a pendant that is a cartouche of my name with the symbols for life, health, and happiness incorporated in it. I also have plans for when I have my own home for an Egyptian themed bedroom with sand colored walls and hieroglyphs along the border of the ceiling. I also have an intense interest in Scotland, partly because my ancestors came from there but there have been times when I've seen pictures or tv shows of Scotland and the word "home" immediately springs to mind. I've never been able to watch Braveheart all the way thru because I get an intense feeling of dread. I'm also interested in WWII, particularly D-Day; I watched "Saving Private Ryan" once and haven't been able to bring myself to watch it again because I get a eerie feeling of familiarity when I try to re-watch it. I live near the National D-Day Memorial and visited it about a year ago and I just got an overwhelming sense of peace being there. I also have an intense fear of fire; it is not uncommon for me to wake in the middle of the night, convinced I can smell smoke. I have lost many hours of sleep, checking and re-checking my apartment for any sign of smoke or flames, even going as far as getting dressed and going outside to have a look around. I would love to do a PLR to see if any of this is related to a past life!

Hi Ambra!

You say you get an intense feeling of dread during "Braveheart". Perhaps you were and English soldier? I have watched that movie at least 30 times, and every time a battlefield scene comes on, I'm like "YEAAAAAAAAAAAAH PUT ME IN COACH I'M READY TO PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I've always had a penchant and am drawn to swords and armor and battles; but not modern ones. The way they did it in B.H. was the true way to fight; sword to sword! ooooooooooops getting carried away again. I woud venture to say that your intense fear of fire would have something to do with a past life. Mine is the fear of heights, which I explained (as it was explained to me) in another post. I have nightmares about being in high places, or worse, those darned "falling dreams" which I haven't had for a while. Does it bother you to be near an open fire/fireplace? What does the smell of smoke to do you? This is going to sound weird, but does outdoor barbqueing bother you? I'm working up to a theory, here, dangit! LOL
