Sorry about reviving an old topic, but I'm talking to someone who is not religious but yet refuses to believe that God may not be All powerful. Is this more common then I think it is?

Depends on how they define God.

They believe that there is only one God and refuse to respect others opinions and religions.

If they are believing there is ONE God, then how do you say they are not religious?

Don't ask me, that's what they said. They believe in one god and refuse to accept other beliefs and yet they say they're not religious, how? I don't know.

the multiple entities that were worshipped were to channelize the different faucets of this single power. and certain sects of people carried on worshipping each of these creating "all" these gods - but in reality GOD is just ONE!

Not all polytheistic religions view it this way. Each god or goddess has his or her own traits and is their own entity, not merely a facet of one godhead.

YOu can be spiritual, but not follow any religion Hawk. Why the sudden interest in this? You seem to a have a slightly different tone than when you started the thread? What has transpired?
Is the art of life, living somewhere in between?

Hi
I believe that God is a state of being/truth than a person.
if we listen to the masters of our time Buddha, Jesus, Gandhi, they all talked of the same thing, but worded it different (enlightment, God, Alla etc) I believe to reach this state of being or God Truth, we need to live many life times to achieve it, incarnating everytime to learn all the lessons that life throughs at us, (after all we are spiritual being not just matter) these Lessons will come in all forms, being repeated over and over untill we understand the full meaning of true happiness of love and life and harmony, THis to me is GOD...
