Here's another spot on my list of places to go. This War of 1812 fort is just south of Toledo. Two Battles were fought here in 1813, from what I understand. Some soldiers are rumored to still walk the grounds. This would fit in to Jeff's new book too.

History and ghosts, what more can a guy ask for???? Has anyone here visited this spot yet. I'd like to here about it.

I visited Ft. Meigs twice while I was researching my book Ghosthunting Ohio. I interviewed some of the volunteers who work there as guides and I retold some of their stories in my book. Most of their stories were about the ghosts of the many soldeirs who died at the fort in the two attacks launched by the British in the War of 1812. Some of the stories had to do with Native American ghosts as well, since Indians occupied the site before the fort was built.

The Garrison Ghost Walk is an October lantern-lit tour of the fort conducted by volunteers. It's a lot of fun; last year I was an invited speaker at the Walk.

I have written an entire chapter about Ft. Meigs in Ghosthunting Ohio.

Thanks for that info John. Did you have any expeiences their yourself? Did you see hear, feel, or smell, anything out of the ordinary?

where is ft meigs at anyway?is up north in cleveland area?if it is i will probably never get up there.way to far away.wouldnt mind checking out the lighthouse up there on some island somewhere.i like lighthouses.sometimes you find ghosties in there to...

Fort Meigs is South of Toledo, Civilwarbuff. The Lighthouse your Talking about is on the Marblehead peninsula. Also from Marblehead you can drive across a causeway to Johnson's Island and visit the Confederate cemetery. I've been there. It's supposed to be haunted. I think I'll start a seperate thread about those spots on the lake and What I've experienced up there.

Yeah Kats. I bet you could find the entire Haunted Ohio series online. there's Haunted Ohio I-V (1-5) and The Ghosthunter's Guide to Haunted Ohio. I have all of them, and every one is good. And that Ghosthunter's Guide as helped me find some great Locations.

Hey, Duke, unfortunately, I did not have those types of experiences when I was at Ft. Meigs, but then again, I am not a psychic. When I wrote Ghosthunting Ohio, however, I interviewed volunteers who work at Ft. Meigs, people who are there all the time and got their stories about what they saw, felt, or heard. By the way, as for finding haunted locations, Ghosthunting Ohio has maps, travel directions, phone numbers, Websites, etc., pretty much all the info anyone would need to find these places. Also, every location in the book is open to the public so anyone can visit them.

I live in the Toledo area and have been to Fort Meigs several times. I belong to the The Society for Creative Anachronism ( a medieval re-creation group) and there is a Medieval event there every year in May. I have not seen any ghosts there, (it's hard to pick up any spirit activity when you have 1,500 people camping on the grounds). However, I have talked to a few of the volunteers who work there as well and who have had experiences in some of the buildings on the fort grounds. Next time I'm there I'm going to check out the buildings and see for myself. I'll let you know what I find.

Yes, the Time Warp is from RHPS....

I moved this topic to the Baord of The Month cause it fits in with the theme. I still haven't had a chance to make it out to the fort yet. Unfortunately the Garrison Ghosat walks are Fridays and Saturdays. I work both those days. They need to have one on Sunday.

Even without the Ghost walk, I want to see the place since I'm a history buff.

I didn't realize the HAD garrison ghost walks at Fort Meigs. I need to check that out. Do you have any info on the times, dates, etc. Is it every Friday and Saturday? I would like to go to one.
