An embarrassing thing happened to me earlier today. Took the scooter out to run some errands and ran out of gas. It happened while we were all at a stop and when the light turned green, scooter lost power. The cars behind me begin to honk and I had to get off and wave them all to go ahead while I wheeled the scooter over to the sidewalk. I tried a few times to start it and it wouldn't. I telephoned my husband and he told me to wait and he would send one of his men over help me out.

While I'm waiting I Facetimed our fellow GV'er Jenjen and instead of being sympathetic she thought it was very funny. "I'm surprised you even knew how to start that thing" she said.

Yeah, thanks a lot, my friend.

The guy my husband sends over arrives. He didn't even try to start the thing. He looks at the gauges and says, "Ma'am, no gas".

I felt my face turning red from embarrassment. I've been riding for years and this shouldn't happen. I gave the guy some money and he got gas for me and I was off once again to do my errands.

So that was the highlight of my day. Ho-hum.

Yup, that's my girl lol.

Earlier today a few of my husband's friends dropped by to watch the Mayweather--Mcgregor fight. Because of the time difference it was shown here around lunchtime. Great fight btw. You just knew though that Mayweather was eventually going to win. As is the case when you have a bunch of guys and a sports event happening, my husband and his buddies got pretty drunk by the time the fight ended. So eventually you have a bunch of guys passed out in the living room by 2 in the afternoon here.

Most have gone home already and there's still a couple here trying to sober up. I'm not really drunk. pretty much hung out with their wives and watched the fight along with them.

When they showed the Las Vegas scenes I remembered Balo talking about going to Las Vegas earlier on in this thread. Would not be surprised if he was there for the fight.

Wouldn't surprise me either if he was there.

Hate doing this to yinz, but I'm going to have to post a fundraising bit. High points of the spiel on the page is that our current car is on its last legs, Mom uses it to get to and from work and doctor's appointments for both her and Bruce, she has health issues that worry her co-workers and I when they flair, and having working A/C in the car would help during the more humid weather, and prior financial BSery is keeping the credit union from giving her a loan to get it. Current car is a '98 Chrysler Cirrus, and the car/SUV she's looking to replace the poor thing with is a 2004 Honda CR-V from a local dealership on her way to work. Weirdly, the CR-V is also one that I've notice every time we've gone past it on our way to her cancer stuff.

http://images1.ameri...ed_28093581.jpg<-What we're currently driving. Obvs. not the exact car, as Bruce pretty much likes to try beating the poor thing up, and I put a Celtic pride sticker on ours. Gonna miss that sticker when we have to get rid of the poor lil guy...

https://static.cargu...-1600x1200.jpeg<-Pretty similar to what we're looking at buying. Aka the CR-V that likes giving us love-eyes.

We've known Mick (our current car) likely wouldn't last out the year since probably mid-January, what our mechanic said the last time he was in the shop just confirmed it. I'm honestly not getting my hopes up, but I'd be darn happy if we get even half of what we'd need for a newerish vehicle. I'm going to have to take a mini-poster in to work to see if my GM will let me hang it up somewhere to see if anyone'd want to help out there. Half tempted to post it on NextDoor as well, but I'm not sure mom would be too happy about that.

Just checked the GoFundMe page, and there was a $50 donation. Holy balls. May just be able to get mom her vehicle.

Welp, car won't be legal to drive come the end of the month. Our mechanic told the folks the rusting on the undercarriage is bad enough that the car won't pass inspection because of it. Which in turn means mom isn't going to be able to get to her dr's appointments in October and after. th_mad.gif sick12.gif head%20bonk.gif
