Where else to start but at the beginning I say...
Suprisingly enough with all the things I've seen, heard and felt as far as the supernatural is concerned with my being thirty-one years old
one would think I'd be able to claim that I've seen my first "classic descript" of a ghost long before much earlier this year!

What i mean by "classic descript" is the white misty like figure that would give one the impression of being humanoid in shape...

Anyway it was earlier on before the ice storm landed smack down on Muncie
Very clear night and a bit cold but not too cold to be out for an hour or so
I had been dying to have a good look at the comet that had been making its way through and convinced my husband to go out with me to stargaze.

Unfortunately theres too much light pollution to do that where I live so we drove out of town and at the last minute decided to go to my favorite cemetery (Because its out in the middle of nowhere and a cornfield)...
The Olive Branch Cemetery in Matthews, Indiana a.k.a. Elizabethtown
and I have quite a few stories to tell about that place but I'll take things one at a time...

Once we arrived the view of the stars was incredible (didnt need a telescope the place is that far out of the way) and after about half an hour of saying hello to all the residents and letting them know I've missed them since my last visit on Halloween...
My husband and I made ourselves comfortable on the ground. I'm not sure what it was that he did (leaned back on his arm the wrong way?) I just recall him saying "G*D D^MN!T!"

Suddenly I was overcome by an uncomfortable nagging feeling that I'm to say something to him about that...I tried to fight it for as long as I could
One reason being I thought I was being overly sensitive about his disturbing the silence and tried to think its just as well
Because the other reason being...
I knew hed peg me for a nutcase if I told him the residents had taken offense to his language and were asking me on thier behalf to get him to apologize.

Either way both reasons were right and I couldnt ignore the nagging anymore. I caved to the pressure my etherial peers had put me under and told my husband to say has sorry for his language

Sure enough he thought I was nuts but that was only after I told him that he
shouldnt apologize to me its the residents of the cemetery that had taken offense...And having to explain to him the hows and whys you dont want to bring up a mention like that in a place like we were in wasnt easy but he finally said he was sorry and immediately the nagging feeling went away.

He returned his attention to the stars and I decided to have a casual glance over the cemetery to make sure all was well because I could still hear (In an emotional sense) a few scoffers at the back insisting he didnt mean it...
I was able to basicly ignore that much...
And as I began to turn my attention back to the stars I noticed a white misty upper torso shaped figure moving from left to right in a relatively hasty manner to get to a spot behind some trees

And not out of the corner of my eye but dead on (pardon the dead mention)
it was then that I realized I forgot to bring my camera
...but when I was more in the mood to see stars that night I really wasnt thinking about where I may end up just as long as it was out of town...
I just sat and watched for a few seconds until the figure made its way behind the trees and it basicly stayed there until it was time to leave...

And thats my first ghost sighting...

hey boo, I just read it , cool story!! And from what i know of hubby , NOPE HE DIDNT MEANT IT lol...I'm suprised he even said it lol...tell him i said :P ...You just cant hide your thoughts from the paranormal!! Scary thought in itself!! It still amazes me that yourself and others can hear them chitter chattering...I have only once that I am aware of for certain heard one spirit? talk to me, it was odd, it was trying to give me support and encouragment, but because it spoke to me, i freaked out and didnt do what it was encouraging me to do lol...Timing was so off!! ...I was sitting in my bedroom at home, when i lived with my folks still and i had my boyfreind at the time there, i was trying to build up the courage to break his heart, i didnt want to date him anymore, we'd been together all up 3 1/2 yrs..I cant remmeber how much time had passed, think it wasnt long after i did do it and did break his heart :( ..but all is well ..apparently hes married with kids now B) .. Anyhow, i was sitting there trying to think up what to say, i really didnt want to hurt him...and then i heard a voice say , "do it, do it now" as though they were reading mythoughts, well that just spooked me out, i started crying and i told him what i heard, he just thought i was nuts lol..i did tell him what they said and why they said it, he asked if i wanted to break up , i said no , i didntknow why they said it lol..i was too spooked to even tell him the truth!! lol...

BOO!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER LEAVE HOME WITHOUT YOUR CAMERA lol

Always be careful of what you say and be respectful...specially if you're in a cemetery. It's like visiting somebody else's house right?

Whatever

I have heard too many people say it doesn't make sense that cemeteries would be haunted, stating why would a spirit hang out where their body is buried. Well, the experiences and evidence of others make that a moot point. And agreeing with what axlfoley said, treat it as the house of someone. No one knows why spirits/ghosts come back to their resting places, but apparently some do.

It is always exciting when you have a first sighting. Many more I hope in the future. A picture would be great!
Right this way to my haunted space.
