I just read the book and have to say that my favorite chapter was on Mercy Brown, the "Rhode Island Vampire."
What a fascinating, sad, and gruesome story. I've never heard about this one, but am really drawn to this story. I can understand this happening in Eastern Europe at that time, but here??? In 1892???

I heard about it but never really looked into it.I live about 15 minutes. I do remember it was very scary

It is a tragic story, but out of desperation some people get driven to some crazy things.

I was talking to a co-worker about the book and some of the stories, she didn't realize that sometimes people were buried alive until fairly recent times. So much knowledge and technology that we take for granted.

Poor girl. She suffered thru TB and still was badgered in death!

Hey this is my first post on this website. I was showing my roommates the story of Mercy Brown. And i came upon this site. I know you guys probably hear this a lot but its real for me. Im related to Mercy Brown. Shes my distant cousin on my dads side.
And im curious have you guys heard of what happens when you visit her grave. if you havent its a very interesting story.
