I've got The Shining on DVD to watch, but since the fatal day when I watched The Ring (on my own) I'm just too scared to watch another horror movie...

It was a toss up for me, the exorcist or the ring. I voted for the exorcist, but I can't really remember how scared I was the first time i watched it. Probably pretty darned scared. But I DO remember how scared i was when i watched the ring, eeeekkkk!

I wanted so much to vote for hellraiser... born out of the genius of Clive Barker.... but ah well, The Ring scared me too much not to pay homage to it

The point which I should first wish to understand is whether the pious or holy is beloved by the gods because it is holy, or holy because it is beloved of the gods.

Voted The Exorcist cause its one of the only movies that still scares the bejezzus outta me..I have to admit The Ring didnt really do it for me, I plan on watching it again soon though, maybe I missed something :-/ Both the book and movie version of The Shining rock btw!
Either write things worth reading,
Or do things worth the writing.

as far as hellraiser goes..i love the movies but they aren't "spooky" they are "gore" films.

really? i had to list the most well-known ones.  However, I'm more than aware that the best horror films haven't been seen by a lot of people, like a late 70s classic called: Phantom - which scared a living day lights off me when I was growing up

and

an Italian horror film director - Dario Argento (very famous in Italy) who made some incredible horror films (and gory too!)
