I hear that there are melon heads on Velvet Road in Trumbull, Connecticut near where I live. My boyfriend actually said when he was little in his friend's car, they were driving down in that area where there are dirt roads and woods on both sides... and a short man with a bulbous head ran in front of their car, he didn't get to look at his face but they turned to where he had come from and there were bloody clothes hanging from the trees. And the Trumbull melonheads, will eat you and then leave your bloody clothes hanging from a tree. My brother has been to Dracula Drive and he said there was nothing there. I would like to know where Dracula Drive is if anyone knows.

Wow, talk about a late reply to people on this subject!

...welp, I can tell you that Velvet Drive and the legend of the melonheads is pretty much a Trumbull Connecticut fact. I grew up by Pinewood Lake in the Nichols area of Trumbull.

I had seen a poloroid picture of a melonhead family way back when I was about 12. I never knew where the street was until much later in life when it became a popular place to park and attempt to avoid police. They didn't seem to go down there much although it was pretty much a known place for kids to be up to no good. In fact, in the 25 or so times I'd been there, never another car, never the police stopping by.

I never saw any whilst there, but you could honestly feel the pressure of something truly evil sitting on top of you when you were either driving OR parked on that street, it would hit immediately, and it was more than just an anticipatory thing because of knowing about the legends. You'd be pestering whoever brought you there to get the hell out.

It is located in the Tashua section of Trumbull, near the Monroe line, in fact I think its' off of Tashua Road (or becomes Velvet Street {Street, according to Mapquest} at the very end of Tashua Road.

The thing I find creepy and more believable about this story, that unlike alot of other Urban Legends where each town has its' own version with slightly different names for things, the Melon Head phenomenon is truly centered in Trumbull and Monroe, and always has been (I'm 42).

Dracula Drive is an aka name for Velvet Rd. They're the same thing. It's like right on the border of Trumbull and Easton/Monroe. I've rode my bike down there...scary as BAD_WORD. You feel like a pedophile is waiting in the bushes, but, as I recently discovered, so are the Melonheads. I personally believe it is all just bullBAD_WORD. You can camp out on that road for a whole night, and nothing would happen.

So are they ghosts of the babies who were experiemented on or are they just like decendents? I am a little confused on the stories everything i read almost told a different story.

They're not ghosts, they are descendants of the original Melonheads from the 20's, i think.

Can any1 tell me how 2 get 2 Dracula Drive?? Im 20 min away from the union cemetary...

I'm not sure where Union Cemetary is, but if you get on to Tashua Rd. in Trumbull (right off Rt.25) and take it all the way down past Madison Ave, you will get to a private driveway. Take a right when you get there. The road that you take the right down won't have a street sign, but it will be Velvet Rd, aka Dracula Drive.

Google Maps shows a rather large building on Velvet St in Trumbull - is this the asylum where the bizarre experiments on the melon heads took place?! I've never been down there.

Yeah, the melonheads. Good old Dr. Crowe. Bob Gray (Bigfoot) is making a melonheads movie. "Legend of The Melonheads" I think it's called. The Kirtland/Chesterland area is kind of like "urban legend" central around here. Other weird/horrific stuff, too. Chesterland has been hit with tornadoes that pop up with no related storms/weather occuring. In Kirtland on Route 6 between Rt 306 and Sperry rd. is the site of the "cult killing barn" Where Jeffrey Don Lundgren and his followers murdered the Avery Family. There's a "crybaby bridge" also in Kirtland. Ritual sacrifice altars (animal) have been found in areas of the Lake Metroparks. There's a story that I've heard about a set of tire tracks in the snow (can't remember which road) that ended abruptly as if a car vanished or went straight up in the air. Even Sasquatch sightings in Chesterland, also in Geauga County and at Paine Falls in Leroy. (further to the east) Many more that I can't recall, so many.

Anyone actually investigate the road recently? Looking for contacts on the other end of the state (Western).
