Nice to be back. Wonder who I made "ill" with me back in 2009...at 67 am lucky to recall what I had for dinner 2 days ago. Guess some folks will have to explain it to me as I have no clue.

While I've seen a few ghosts and sense them a lot, I don't consider myself a medium, because a spiritual medium can usually tell you things about a ghost's past. Either I'm not a medium, or I'm not open enough, because I've never gotten that far. Nor do I wish to.
However, usually it's just a 'thing', you can just tell. Most of the time you've 'known' you were different from a very young age, and have had paranormal experiences, as well. If this doesn't sound like you, you're probably not all that sensitive.
I don't actually care for the whole experience, and would never wish it on another person. I just want to be normal. I used to be really into it, but now that I've come across way too many hostile ghosts, who think I'm an easy portal (I'm not), I just want it to go away.

The website for the book is located at: http://www.hsperson.com/
I highly recommend it to any people who think they might be sensitive. She discusses possible paranormal links in the last chapter.
I'm a HSP as well and one of the previous posts were right in saying that you just know when you are. The website above gives basic traits that sensitives typically share.

quick question with this. Can you make yourself sensitive to it or is it something that you're just born with it?
I would like to know the answer to this too. I think I'm somewhat sensitive but not sure if I want to develop this or if it is even possible.

Everyone's journey is different though. Follow your heart, your conscience and if you are a praying person, pray for guidance.

In my opinion I don't think you can make yourself in the way you're thinking.
To be honest I think everyone has the ability to be sensitive just some supress it and others don't or some are better at accepting the triggers than others.
The best thing you can probably do is to just try and open yourself up in a way, just be actively thinking that you're open to feeling something etc.
The first few times may just be the fact you're trying though but with more open subconcious you're more likely to be able to sense things.

Life is too short to take seriously, none of us get out of it alive.
Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be.Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

I think it's rather cold and uncaring to say that a person "knows" that they are and if they aren't sure, then they are not. Many people don't know what they are feeling or from where it is coming. This can stem from conflicting religous beliefs or just plain ignorance of the subject. People unfamiliar with all of this need guidance, not a smug "oh, it you're asking, then you aren't one". It's like anything else; one isn't necessarily blessed with all-encompassing knowledge of an ability, skill, or "gift".
To me, it's kind of an a-hole attitude.

I believe we are all sensitive to certain extents. Everyone has odd experiences from time to time, even skeptics, you know just that chill up your spine, the one that you get when a stranger walks past you in a grocery store, everyone has them. I believe those are our senses telling us something is going on with that person,(not that that person is bad) maybe they are at that moment, feeling a strong emotion for some reason, we just pick up on their energies. I think its posible some of us are born and stay super sensitive, and the rest of us are just sensitive. I believe that for a lot of us (myself included) we don't acknowledge, and refuse to believe or go deeper into it, out of spiritual/religious belief, or are just to (for lack of a better word) rational, to believe in such things. So we never fully devlop it to the extent others have it.
