I am traveling to England next Spring and plan to make a 2 night trip up to Scotland to visit this infamous cemetery. I was wondering if anyone has ever been there and/or had an experience.

You came to the right place, Silvertongue. This was a hot topic a few years back. Hope it helps!

Not a problem, Silvertongue. At one time there were several Ghostvillagers in the Edinburgh area, so maybe this will motivate them to quit lurking and start posting again!

I've never been there, but I've heard about Bobby's baying and...gosh can't think of his name but there's a famous Scottish serial killer buried at Grayfriars and I've read accounts of women who have felt hands around their throats

Wow Oiche! Thanks for your response. I decided to do a search on Google and came up with Robert Black as the serial killer in question. The only infamy I've ever associated with Greyfriar's was Bloody Mackenzie and Covenanter's Prison. Thanks for the additional story.

Robert Black! Gosh I knew that was familiar, thanks, Silver:D

Scotland's got a lot of very intriguing haunts, while plague ravaged the cities Glasgow was one big cemetary back in the 13th century, there's actually an undercity beneath which I believe you can tour that was actually where they lived during the plague

Well I don't think I'm claustrophobic. I mean I've been to Ruby Falls in Tennessee and it never bothered me. I just don't fancy a visit to the vaults.

Hi ST,

I was in Ediburgh last year for a week and trotted through the cemetary in the daytime. There is a section of the cemetary that is supposed to be gated off because of a poltergeist entity that has roughed up some people. I did see an area closed off by a gate, but I couldn't be sure if it was the one mentioned on the internet.

I'm sorry that I cannot give you the link to this info, but if I can find it, I'm sure you can too.

I didn't have the guts to visit the underground vaults, but they're supposed to be full of energy.

If you find anything, I hope you'll let us know.

Carlotta
Who owns the land? Only the land knows. We mortals are passersby, and our lives are but a brief moment in the great span of time and space. We are born, we live out our lives, and most of us do the best we can with it, but the wind is forever, and the rivers flow forever to the sea, and all the seasons of the weathers will come and go after we are gone. But the Earth endures, the Earth is eternal" - Earl Hamner

Yes, that's the place I'm speaking of... the Black Mausoleum and also the Covenanter's Prison. There's only one tour group that is allowed to take people either place. That's the tour I'm going on.
