hey all

i am currently looking into a field which is strange to me..
we do evp here at project-reveal but we do it rather simple..

with a olympus anolog recorder which we dont use much. due to the time it takes to transfer to computer.

and a digital olympus cheap range. 30 - 50 it was i think. "dont have it on me at the moment as someone is doing evp with it."

a Yukon Boom Mic sold at toms gadgets. sound amp.

-----------------
The way we do evp

start evp session-
Say Location - time - who is there - and what interactions we can hear. - then we start asking questions, allowing 10 seconds for a responce - if someone walks or moves we "tag" the evp as us. - that way we cant get mixed up with what we can hear on evp - if there is a noise what we havent tagged then it would be something we didnt hear.

--------------

nick member of PR would then take the evp home and listen through it on audacity or adobe ----
if nick was to find something he would try to de bunk it, if he cant' then he would snippet that evp start and end time and call it something like evp - Private house 1. then carry on with the rest of the evp. and be added into our video reports and write ups which are constantly improving.

-------------

Thats what we do... i dont understand much about the different divices.. so if you can help me decidence on what would be best and why.. it would help me out a great deal..

even if the device in nothing i said in the topic please tell me.

Thanks.

I would consider the zoom h1 if I were you. It has the same performance (same mic capsules) as the H2 and has a physical switch for every major function on the recorder. To make changes on the zoom H2 usually requires menu-surfing on that tiny dispay screen. Only major advantage the H2 has over the H1 is the surround mic pattern (4 mics instead of the 2 found on the H1). Honestly, though, I never really use surround mode as it eats up precious recording time.

Here is a video on the h1

best regards,
Andy
