the first, which also happened to be the first i remember, was when i was nine. i was having nightmares so i got up to go to my mom and dad's room. i was scared of my dark so i turned on all the lights on the way there. i slept upstairs, so when i got to the top of the stairs i turned on the light there, and at the bottom of the stairs i saw a little girl with dark, curly, brown hair and wearing a light blue dress. i freaked out and i thought of screaming but i didn't, and i just stared at her for what seemed like hours, then i just kinda looked again and she was gone...
another one, which has happened on several different occasions, was seeing my great grandmother matilda. i don't know how i knew it was her...but...it was. she likes to hang out in my kitchen at 2:30 in the morning. the most recent happening i had was when i saw her again yesterday when i was home alone...a little disconcerting. she died in this house, so...i dunno. any thoughts?
and i'd go on to tell the third but someone needs to use the phone.

there isn't much, which is why i'm confused about the little girl, namely.
the house was built in 1963 by my maternal grandparents. my mom and my aunt grew up in this house, and matilda died in it in the early seventies. my grandparents continued to live in the house until my parents bought it in 1991. it's been in the family ever since it was built, so there isn't much in the area of "creepy history"...sadly.
i asked my mom if there was ever a little girl 'round abouts, though, and she said there used to be a neighbor down the street after she moved out that fit the description, she didn't know what happened to her though.
hmmm....
for the one encounter worthy of mentioning, i was visiting a friend's apartment and spending the night. it was getting late and everyone was in the living room with the lights off watching a movie. i went to my friends room to get something from my bag. her closet door was open and opposite of the main door, so when i opened it i could see straight into the closet. when i opened the door, the light shined in from the hall and i clearly saw a man hanging from a rope inside the closet...
i screamed and ran back to the living, to say the least. that's one of the few encounters that actually gave me a really bad feeling...

Then again, Idaho isn't exactly a hotbed of paranormal activity, either. I live up near Spokane and have checked to see if there are any sites of interest in this area with no luck. See if your local library can offer up anything in the way of local history. You might be seeing manifestions from a time long before the house was built.

But you never can tell. There may have been a farm or some other settlement where the house is located now that might have been the site of a suicide or some other type of untimely death.
Definitely check with your library or see if they can get you in touch with a local geneolgoical society. Most librarians I've met have been big local history buffs.
