Has anyone experienced the same thing my fiance experienced??  She was extremly upset and stressed due to recent events and I was trying to calm her down on the telephone. Her Mother past away 2 years ago (at the time this happened) and always wore a distinctive perfume. None of that perfume was in my fiance's house. As we were speaking she said that she could smell her perfume.  She later told me that it was like her mom had walked past her, she did not feel any breeze but the way the smell was at first strong then slowly fade away like if someone would walk past you. Her smelling this quickly calmed her down.  It has not happened since (3 years).  

Another quick thing, My fiance was almost killed by her ex-husband and was involved in a seige.  She got herself out but her ex barrackaded himself to the house.  after 4 hours he gave himself up and the police arrested him.  They put him into a police van and the registration plate on the van had the same initials as her Mother! Weird!   :o

Yes, smell as such is a strong indication of a presence. I have had the smell f the perfume my paternal granma used to use, and I was more closer with her than anyone.

That is an amazing story. Basically her mother is watching over her. If she does feel a little frightened about her mother's interference then tell her to prey to her mother and inform her that she should rest in peace. I doubt that she is even scared but she should be happy that GOD blessed her with such a special gift. To be able to smell your mother is wonderful because not only are the memories of her mother are still very much alive but her presence is making a difference.

Fragrances and ghosts are said to go hand-in-hand, Dude.  I once worked across the street from a casino in Cripple Creek, Colorado, where the resident spirit, Maggie, often made her presence known during business hours by the distinctive smell of her rose perfume.  It wasn't uncommon for for casino patrons to comment to the employees about the wonderful rose scented air freshener -- only to be told that they don't spray air freshener in the casino . . .

I agree with hunnyfire I think that your fiance mother is watching over her and I dont think she has anything to fear.

It was very comforting for her that she was able to smell the perfume. She only wishes that it could happen more often.

my ex-daughterin-law use to smell her grandfathers apple blend pipe tobacco and my grandchildren have told my daughter that their great Nanny comes and tucks them in at night and kisses them on the froehead and tells them goodnight. My g.c. are 7 and 9 neither one ever met my mother she passed in 1985. everytime my grson. comes to my home he will go straight tom her picture and says she comes to see me and tells me goodnight.

My brother and I were not close at all - He was a bad person and I had cut off all ties.

In December, 2003, I suddenly smelled my mother's perfume. I stopped and enjoyed the scent...and told Mykiedave it was like she was passing right through me.

Within a few hours, I received a call from my sister....She had had the same experience and wanted me to know.

We both learned that my brother had passed unexpectedly at that time. So, we believe that our mother was here to take him, and she was letting us both know she was involved in helping him to pass over.

It is one of the frustrations of my life that for all I can see, I have never seen my mother since she passed. Maybe she thinks it would be too hard for me to handle, but I'd like to give it a try.

I think she knew I will always remember her scent and chose to approach in that way.

That is so special. To able to smell your loved ones that has passed is truly amazing and extraordinary.

I have had this happen to me as well, and I take it as a sign that the person it is connected to was just letting me know that they were thinking of me.  Sometimes I smell roses when I have nothing in my house that even smells of roses.

I have never experienced the smell thing until I moved into this house a month ago.  since I have smelled an overwelming smell of spearamint, a very unfamiliar smell, but distinctive (trying to find out what coal burning smells like, as the odor was right by the old coal buring fireplace) and what I can only discribe as a very strong wet dog smell in the kitchen (we do not have a dog, cats, but they don't get wet too often, LOL)  

 Now my house was built in 1864 as a college and then at the turn of century was converted as a residence.  It was a boarding house durring WW2, and who knows what inbetween times.  We do know that out of the past 55 years it has only been occupied 2 of those years to be rehabed, other than that it has been abandoned--no explinations.  It is a well known haunted house here, but from our experiences not bad enough to be abandoned for such a long period.  Nothing terribly frighting, footsteps, banging, etc.

What an overlooked ability our sense of smell can be.  I've had many visits from departed loved ones that I cannot see or hear or touch, but the scent is definitely there!  I have also received the scent of roses on many occasions.  A couple of times, I knew it was my maternal grandmother.  The other times, however, I got an immediate impression of a friend, and would call her right away, only to find that she was going through an especially difficult emotional time.  She wasn't even aware that she was reaching out.  So...either way, there is someone, on this side or the other, who is trying to make contact you.

Not long after the passing of my son, I woke one night to a sweet smell. It didn't last long, and I can't say if it was my son's spirit or not. The smell reminded me of a perfume I had not worn in along time.  When I woke in the morning I smelled around everywhere to locate the smell. I didn't smell anything.
