What would you want to know? I'm good for the Wicca, Voodoo I'm not do knowing of, but I know the basics.

If you ever want a good movie about voodoo (although not true) watch "The serpent and the rainbow". It's cool. Also "Skeleton Key".

Its important to recognise that Wicca and Voodoo have little connection.

Voodoo is a catholic witchcraft mix of African native origin. Wicca is a revival of ancient Celtic and Greek witchcraft and Pagan belief systems, started by the British civil servant Gerald Gardener. Voodoo has its roots in ancient tribal times, Wicca is only about 50 or 60 years old.

Like I tell people, I'm a witch, not a wiccan. Ray is cool and all, but I never read encyclopedia (though it's on my shelf). My question still stands though.... Do they have a purpose in ritual? what do they do? Why would you use them? I hope I'm not sounding like a major BAD_WORD, I just don't get it...

Poppets are small dolls used in a variety of spells and rituals. Unlike Voodoo dolls, they contain NO part of any human being (no hair, no nail clippings, etc), and are not made to resemble ANY one person. They are general representations of either the spellcaster or, in the case of spells for bringing love or companionship to oneself, they are used to represent the kind of person you want to draw to yourself. They are used as a focal point in a spell.

Voodoo dolls are similar yet VERY different, since they contain a part of a person and are used only in spellwork for or against that person.

I've never used them myself, being that I've never had a reason to perform a spell or ritual that uses them.

And for the record, one does not have to be Wiccan to use any particular kind of spell, ritual or to use any kind of item(s) for such.

I wasn't offended either, just confused. If you liked Skeleton Key, you should watch The Serpent and the rainbow. They're nothing alike, but really cool.

Pharmacy chick..... Heh thats what we call the druggie girls in my town. (Not insinuating, just viciously tired)
