I want to know the opinions you all may have regarding derek acorah, a member of tv's most haunted. I also am curious to know whether he left the show or not. He is featured as "old staff" on the shows website, but I just saw a new ep with him in it.

Is he for real?

I believe in supernatural events, but I know so many people who have watched this show who have said it is all rigged. Bollocks

Derek did indeed leave the show, after the Jack the Ripper Most Haunted Live. The episode that was new to you is an old one. It's rerun season right now. Plus, North American is generally a season or two behind the UK when shows are imported.

Derek apparently was outed by Ceiran, the show's parapsycologist. I myself just found his constant possessions and the recurring theme of "this spirit was engaged in the dark arts" almost every episode tiresome.

I like David Wells very much, and the new meduim (sorry, his name currently escapes me) is a good match with David, and less over the top dramatic than Derek was.

~There's another ghost-board that had posted an interview they did with someone from the show on how they "caught" Derek faking his 'talent'. It was so funny and even more funny when I read the interview. He was so caught, and everyone on the show had already suspected that he was a fake. I wish I knew the link to this interview, but either way it was about time!

David Wells does seem to have a much better sense of empathy toward the spirits, and seems more able to give names. Derek always does a double take when Yvette asks for a name, lol.

I have a hunch (as I've stated in the past) that there is -nothing- genuine about the show. The ousting of Derek was a gimmick to give the show "credibility."

Ciaran did indeed out Derek, but did you know that my site carried the expose a full 6 months before Ciaran went to the newspaper!!

It should alsobe noted that the entire show is now accepted by the majority in the UK as fake, even the Television watchdog OFCOM have declared it as entertainment and not to be taken seriously

I watch it and enjoy watching. wheather it's a hoax or not doesn't stop it from being entertainment. I also think it shows some truly haunted dwellings.

Just to put the record straight even though im a skeptic the show was not found to be fake (Derek maybe). It was investigated by OFCOM as people complained that it claimed things which were untrue or unproven. The show defended itself by saying that it is an entertainment show and dosnt claim anything to be true or untrue, that viewers can make up there own minds on their investigations. This defence was accepted by OFCOM and the show continues to run putting forward possible explanations and causes but no "CLAIMS".

Exactly. One just has to sit back and watch/listen to Cerian after each show in that 5 minute segment.

(by the by, I do like Cerian very much. Seems to me to be a very analytical, intelligent man and a good foil so to say for the rest)

Thats partly correct, the reason OFCOM said the show was not fake, was because they deemed it to be entertainment and that it was not a serious paranormal investigation.

It should also be noted that Yvette Fielding has on a number of occasions claimed the show was a real scientific investigation, she has also said time after time that NOTHING is faked.

This is a lie.

Its a shame that OFCOM dont have some more balls instead of taking the easy option out

Claiming that a a scientific investigation is being carried out is not a problem. I could do a program carrying out a scientific investigation that the earth is actually flat. As long as I dont conclude that the earth is indeed flat and tell people that is a fact there's nothing wrong with that. I mean if all shows that stated they were carrying out a scientific investigation were breaking some kind of TV law then good bye dscovery channel.

As for it being fake, well you have arguments for and against. Both sides are probably trying to make some money or further their careers on that score.

Lastly for OFCOM to feel they have to look into a harmless show like Most Haunted is a joke in itself. Must have been a quiet week for them. I think theres a word for it "JOBSWORTH'S".

i dont watch most haunted anymore, i used to watch before then it just seemed so "fake" so i stoped watching it - i dont care much for derek acorah either

I think that can be said for all paranormal programs, no matter how real they seem. They are first and foremost there for entertainment. If they didn't entertain they wouldnt make money.
