Hello Everyone

My daughter go to Athiens O.U. and she stays at Wilsons dorm. It is said to be one of the haunted dorms. Her and her room mate saw a black silhouette standing in the door way. They were both asleep and got woke up and saw it in the door way. My daughter will not go up to the forth floor. There is supposed to be one room that is boarded up. I don't know if this it true. She never want to talk about it, I think it scares her and she refused to go over to the mental building.

What a coincidence! Ohio University in Athens has several entries listed at theshadowlands.net--including two for Wilson Hall

Athens - Ohio University - the most haunted building on campus is Wilson Hall on West Green. County records show that the dorm was built over an old, Indian burial mound. Most of the Wilson Hall hauntings seem to be centered around the fourth floor. Students have reported seeing apparitions, hearing voices, mysterious slamming doors and flying objects.

Athens - Ohio University - Washington hall - there was a girls basketball team staying in the dorms at Washington hall for a basketball camp, and they were killed on the way home ad since they had a such a good time the haunt the arch of Washington hall. if you stand under it long enough you can hear the girls bouncing the balls and giggling.

Athens - Ohio University - Wilson Hall - Reports of banging, cold spots, blood would appear on the walls no mater how many times it was painted. And other strange phenomena such as the face of a demon showing up in the wood grain on a dorm room door, where a girl believed to be possessed killed herself.

Athens - The Ridges - Old State Mental Hospital - after being closed in the 1980's rumored to be haunted by the locals.

Thank you. My daughter was told that up on the 4th. floor that there is a room that is boarded shut. I don't know this for a fact or not. She wont go up their. Thanks again.

That is a fact. A student comitted suicide in that room, back in the 80's. It had something to do with black magic or Devil worship, so they say. I saw it on a TV show. It's been a couple years so I'm not remembering all the details.

Ok from someone who has lived in Athens County all of her life... The suicide death of the student that happened on the 4th floor of Wilson Hall has little evidence to support if this even happened or not. And if it did it happened before 1980. The first known story of a haunting in Wilson takes place in 1976 but there is no paper trail of a suicide commited in Wilson Hall on the 4th floor at anytime since it was built in the 60's.

As for the old mental hospital now known as the ridges. The Ridges closed their doors for the last time as a mental hospital in 1993 not in the 80's. The hospital lost its state funding in the 80's and became a privately owned mental institution until it could no longer hold its own and closed. The hospital is now offices and classrooms for Ohio University and the Kennedy Museum is a very imformative place to visit. There is only 1 building on the property that is not being used and that is the building where they kept all of the t.b. patients so they wouldn't infect the entire hospital.
