Since I hit adulthood I very very rarely remember my dreams, and if I do I usually forget them within 5 minutes of waking up. When I was younger, I only had bad or very bizare dreams. What I want to know is, do I still have dreams, but I'm just not remembering them? And if I'm not remembering, is there a way I can unlock them myself? Has anyone done this or have a similar problem? It's not something I consider imporant enough to see a therapist, or hypnotist for.

We all dream, for the most part, and remembering them can be hard to do. I know if I have some really strange dreams, I have to get up and write them down immediantly. While other times, I'll remember them for most of the day, if they're so profound.
I did a search for you on remembering dreams, see if anything here can help:

Hey Hairpin, I'm with you. I remember when I was little I used to have a lot of scary dreams that I could remember. I even remember how I used to end them. By like jumping of something or closing my eyes really hard and opening em again. But now when I have a scary dream in the middle of the night, I wake up and go to sleep and can't seem to remember it. I guess when ur a child you don't have a lot of stress which makes you more open minded.  :-/

On the scientific end of the spectrum, every single person who sleeps, dreams at least two different times a night. So yes, you're most definitely having dreams.

Mizzmo has provided some excellent links. I used to tell myself as I laid down for bed "I will remember my dreams", and chant it until my body becomes completely relaxed. If you wake up in the middle of the night to get a drink or go to the bathroom, be sure to first, see if you recall any snipits of a dream and if you do, write them down and, second, complete the chant all over again.

Let us know if any of this stuff works.

Ana, and anyone else who cares. I've been able to remember a lot of my dreams just by writing down what I can remember AS SOON as I wake up. I have to sleep with a journal under my pillow. I'm the type to drift in and out of sleep a lot, so I write down what I remember and then fall asleep again. If you care to read about them, I'm keeping a log of it all at http://www.terrormac...com/~dreamblog/
