President Bush saw ghost at White House Options

By and large this article is about a book by an author and interviewer named John Draper, but a part of it really caught my eye and I found it entirely appropriate to post under Ghosts in the News.

Perhaps the oddest revelation is an episode from 1992, when his father was still president and he was visiting the White House.

Bush found the White House a "creepy place," Draper writes. After exercising in a White House gym one evening, Bush has told a friend he froze in his steps while approaching the Lincoln Bedroom.

Bush insists "he saw ghosts -- coming out of the wall," according to a friend.

I’ve always had an interest regarding ghost stories and reported occurrences at the White House. I imagine that many such occurrences have been kept very quiet over the years, but stories like the Lincolns holding séances and the Reagans using psychics and astrologers have sporadically managed to leak out to the public. IMO this is a great topic of interest.

I believe there is a tale of a Scandiavian Queen (name and country currently escaping me) who witnessed the full apparition of Lincoln himself in that room. I can't remember the details of it though.

There's apparently the ghost of a British soldier from the War of 1812, when they (well...we....heh...) attacked the White House who roams the grounds.

And the infamous Demon Cat in the basements who is apparently seen prior to a great national disaster.

You must be thinking of Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands. She claimed to have seen Lincoln's ghost when she was a guest of the White House.

She answered a knock on her bedroom door in the middle of the night. and when she opened the door, the ghost of Lincoln was standing in front of her, wearing his signature black top hat. At that point, she fainted. When she awoke, he was nowhere to be seen.

Wasn't Jeff Belanger working on a book about White House ghosts?

This is a great thread and proves how disconnected we are from paranormal reality as a society. I can't help think about Eleanor Roosevelt and all the stories about her and do you remember the stories in the first year of the Clinton Administration, when Hillary confessed that she regularly communicated with Eleanor Roosevelt; stories at the time even labeled these communications as séances. Not only did Hillary admit she talked to Eleanor, she said Eleanor talked back!

~I think it's great to hear about the White House being haunted!!!! How awesome would it be??? Imean, just imagine standing in the middle of the White House and all the thoughts, actions, prayers, and so forth that took place behind those walls!!! WOW!!!! Just the idea....I'd LOVE to be able to go there and take pics!!! And I never knew that Hilary Clinton used to talk to a ghost there...or did I know alot of things that went on inside the White House...this is all just TOO dang cool!!! Imagine the views some of the ghostly Presidents have when a decision is made that they don't really agree with- if these are in fact intelligent hauntings. I sure know I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the White House- it is truly a fascinating place.
