Hello all, I'm a senior in high school, and ive always heard that our gym is haunted. My sister used to be a trainer for the volleyball and basketball teams, and she will confirm these claims. Ill tell you a few stories of hers first. She, her friend, and the girls coach would be the last ones after the other girls went home. The girls weight room used to be located underneath the stage in the gym. While the coach drove the bus back to the bus barn, my sister and her friend would have to put the equipment back in the weightroom. They would start to walk across the gym floor (our high school was built in the 1930's and still has the orginal wood floors, so its very noisy) and they could hear someone running up and down the bleachers (again, all orginal wood in the gym, including the stage and bleachers) the stage curtain opening, all sorts of things that would happen almost everytime they went through there. Shortley after my sister left high school, they stopped using the weight room under the stage, due to the fact that the girls that were working out would have the door slammed shut on them and they couldnt get out no matter how hard they pushed, untill someone came and got them out.
Ive told you all this to bring you what i came here to say. This past week, ive decided to record our gym during lunch(no one is allowed in the gym during that time) with a voice recorder to see what i could catch. I put it under one of the bleacher locker rooms that is used during basketball season, and to store books. I sit outside the door on the outside that leads to the locker room during lunch, and the only other way to get down there, is to cross through the gym and walk right behind the door im sitting against, and there are no other doors in the locker room. I have recorded multiple banging on the lockers, loud breathing in the recorder, and someone screaming(i cant make out what their saying)and someone whispering a "hello" or a "hey you" right into the mic, and scared the crap out of me. There was no one down there the entire time, and none of it was picked up from the gym, as no one is allowed in there during lunch.(no one can see when i go to put the recorder in) and i know for a fact no one is playing a joke on me because the only other person that knows im doing this is sitting next to me during lunch. Sorry for the bad grammar and all, im in a rush to type this. If you have any questions, post them, and i will try to clear them up. Sorry, but i cant upload the evps as my recorder has no type of computer hook up :)

:) Great story and glad you are investigating this. I am glad you got some evp recordings. I used to be a gym teacher for years. Empty gyms and locker rooms can be scary, but I never had anything paranormal happen to me in a gym or locker room. You said the gym has a stage? So is the gym also used as an auditorium for theatre, etc? That caught my attention because for some reason theatres are usually more haunted than a gymnasium. That is really interesting what you found. It would be neat to find out who is haunting it. Good luck and keep up the investigation, you have the rest of the school year. Keep us informed.

Hi!! Very interesting.... if you can, try to make sure that there are no possible "human" error conclusions... maybe have a friend video tape the other point of entry as you video tape the one you are standing guard of while doing the EVP work... this way you'll gain credibility faster.... you're in a tough position... being considered a "non-adult" always lends to being a prankster.... so, I would say, by all means, go to any lengths to establish your credibility firstly (with appropriate permissi9on).... see if yoiur sister can help out, influentially, that is, if necessary... the EVP work seems to be a good start........... GOOD LUCK!!!

I always like to do a little research when I hear of a new haunted place. Since you didn't mention the name of the high school, you might try looking on theshadowlands.net to see if it has a listing in the Haunted Places index:

Haunted Places in Texas

Just click on the link and scroll down to see if your town is listed there. Most of the listings here are submitted by the general public, so they're unsubstantiated. Who knows? Perhaps your school's gym has a haunted history of some sorts

Thanks everyone. Yes, GhostCat, its used for a stage for the drama club. Earth_Spirit, we are in the database on a few sites, i chose not to say where, cuz there are some crazy people on the web(no, im not calling any of you crazy) As to who might have died down there, i have no idea, the only thing i heard of is supposedly a long time ago, a student died in that locker room after a basketball practice, a heart attack i think. But im not sure. I know the evp's may not seem credible due to the fact that it sounds like there are a lot a places for human voices to come through, but trust me. No voices can carry through the gym, or even from outside down in the locker room, its literally soundproof in there. But i do have an amazing update. After the football game on Fri., our school held a 5th quarter in the gym for 6-12th grade students to play dodgeball. A freshman left the gym and entered into the school hallway(theres 2 entracnes to the gym from the hall) and he saw something out of the corner of his eye and claimed to have seen a woman in a red jacket with blonde hair just looking at him, the only thing was, only her torso was there, no lower body,in front of one of the classrooms. A friend of mine told me that he ran back into the gym totally freaked out, when a couple of people checked down the hall, it was gone. I haven't had the chance to talk to him about what he saw, but i should get a chance to later tonight, and i will try to let you all know what exactly happend :)

I know exactly the kind of high schools you're talking about, Hans--the ones with football trophies dating back before WWII gathering dust in the glass cases that sit in long, dark hallways and the creaky wooden floor gymnasiums with their locker rooms that smelled eternally of the kind of sweat you can only produce in the sweltering heat of Texas.

I know them all too well because I went to a high school like that when I was growing up in central Texas, and then I came back to visit them as a military recruiter 12 years later. Most of the schools hadn't changed a bit in my absence, and every one of them seemed to be a vortex of swirling adolescent energy that didn't dissipate long after the last bell rang at the end of the day. I'm not surprised that you've got a spook or two hanging around :)

You're off to a good start with the possible story of the student dying of a heart attack in the locker room. Perhaps you should interview the kid who saw the lady in red next. Could it have been the spirit of a former teacher roaming the halls?

Sounds like you need to befriend the maintenance staff to see if they might let you roam the halls after hours and take some pictures or perhaps a do a few recordings. I wouldn't recommend that you tell them you're ghost hunting, that's all. Unless things have changed in the last few years, Texas is still the buckle on the "Bible Belt," and some folks might take offense at that. Others might not want you stirring up things that they might consider best to be left alone. Also, any staff member who's at school after hours probably has a few stories of his or her own to tell. You might make a few inquiries there, as well . . .

Not to worry. Your secret location is safe with me!

Great idea!!! Or, befriending a faculty member that could give you reason to be in certain places at certain times....

I am attending a college with a haunted history.... it just so happens a faculty member is also interested in doing an investigation of the alleged claims and has agreed to chaperone the project....

You, too, might get lucky....

Have you considered interviewing retired teachers, inquiring about their personal experiences? They also could give you leads to others who might be insightful....

Thanks Earth_Spirit and peepers, those are great ideas. I plan to talk to a teacher tommorrow whose worked there for a while and has claimed all kinds of paranormal things happening in her room. My aunt who used to work at the school was good friends with her, and the teacher (we'll call Mrs. X) had a friend who was a medium. Now, i personally dont belive mediums and all that, but when Mrs. X's friend walked into her room, she said that there may be something there, as she felt slightly uneasy, but when she went to the gym, she just walked back out and said that they gym"was absolutly terrifying" :headbang: so yea, that got my hopes up even more that there is definatly something there. I need to talk to the kid who saw the spirit, but i havent had a chance yet. As far as evp update, nothing that matches the screaming or anything, but its been kinda quiet, just whisiling and slight bangs. Maybe the ghost just built up a big climax with the scream and then the apparition? i certainly hope not, as im quite interested, oh well. Ill get you all updated, and thanks for the suggestions!!

....one other thing I'd like to add, hans.....

You might want to keep a somewhat tight, or perhaps guarded is a better word, lid on your activities.... sometimes misinformation can leak out and turn into manacing gossip in a group populous like the one your dealing with (as with most groups--teens or adults).... this could cause harm to your intentions and impede your investigation... so, you may also want to procede with some caution... finding an adult to lend you credibility and take on a chaparone type role might be your first choice, along with good record keeping.... that way you can back up your dealings, if necessary.... there are many trouble makers in this world that just like to stir the pot, if you know what I mean.....

Good Luck!!!

Hey all, i know i promised to update my thread on how everything is going, sorry, but ive been busy and kept forgetting to update, but here i am!! I talked to the teacher (Mrs. X) about what she's seen and heard. When she first came to teach at our school, she was a non-believer, but after all these years, she'll tell you 100% that our school's haunted. She told me about a cold spot that hovers over her desk, no matter where she moves it in the room. She's been at the school (alone) and has had her lights turned of and on. She said years ago, an old principal had called her over the speaker in her room(all teacher rooms have one, so they can communicate with the office) after school, but she wasnt there. He told her he heard what sounded like books being stacked, and then unstacked, writing on paper, and thumps and scrapes. He started to walk down to her room to tell any students that it was after school hours, and that they needed to go home. He stopped halfway to her room when he realized it was locked and her lights were off...no one was in there. Mrs. X told me about our Anatomy teacher, Mr. Y whose heard things over the years. I talked to him and he said he's been at the school at night, and countless times has heard people running up and down the hall. The first time this happened, he opended his door to see who was making that noise, and he "swears to God and on his life" that he stood in his doorway looking down an empty hallway, and listened as people ran back and forth in front of him, with no explanation of what could make that noise, other than people...who werent there. Cool huh?? :ghost: Now, as far as EVP updates, ive recorded more bangs, odd noises. I have one of someone saying (quite clearly) "Let me out"..gave me the shivers when i first heard it!! i have one of someone saying hello, twice in a row. and the best one for last, that confirms in my mind, 100% that evp's are paranormal phenomenon...One day as I went into the locker room to set down the recorder, you can hear me set it down on the tape, and i start to walk away, but then about 5 seconds after, you can hear someone just start whistiling, but the best part is, i didnt hear it with my own ears! if i had heard it, i would have crapped my pants, and then would have said that i heard the whistiling into the recorder. No one goes down there with me, and i SWEAR i never heard the whistiling until i played back the recorder..very cool stuff  My biggest plan, is to have someone like TAPS come check out our school this summer, which would be amazing, as im about 99% sure that they would catch something!! thanks for reading, i know its alot. I'll try to keep you all updated better next time!!

GREAT job man, thanks for sharing your story and progress. Nothing drives home proof of a haunting better than good evp. Hopefully someday soon you'll be able to upload here...they sound like good ones!

Hey all, i finally found a way to upload my evps!!! :) One of my old monitors had a built in mic, so i held my recorder up to it, and recorded the sounds onto the computer..unfourtunatly, this means that theres a loss in quality :Wall: But never the less, you can hear what ive been talking about for a while now, so be sure to message me, or email me at hans_moleman_2003@yahoo.com if you have any questions, comments, or if you hear something that i dont. Here are the files, and i apologize for the crappy upload site, but i was so happy to upload them to you all, but i hope their worth it!! :ghost: (yes, the links do work, i tested them) Here we go::

Evp 1 This one is one of the many examples of breathing that ive caught.
Evp 2 This is some light whistling
Evp 3 This is the basket lockers in the locker room being slammed around.
Evp 4 This is what sounds to me like a female breathing, its faint.
Evp 5 This whistling is much more interesting, as it sounds like an actual song. (if anyone can recognize it, please notify me right away!)
Evp 6 This sounds to me like a very breathy "Hello"
Evp 7 It's hard to hear the bangs, but you can easily hear the breath.
Evp 8 It's kinda hard to hear the whispering due to the bad quality, sorry. If anyone can tell if there saying something, let me know.
Evp 9 This one is just creepy..
Evp 10 Another breathing one (female maybe?)
Evp 11 This one is just strange, you can hear us talking outside (were about 100 ft. outside from the locker room, the recorder was turned all the way up) i promise no one was making that noise.
Evp 12 Some more whistling
Evp 13 Here it is, the big one. The one i couldnt hear with my ears when i recorded this. the noise in the beginning is me setting down the recorder, and i then go to shut the door.
Evp 14 Here, you can hear a "Hello" said twice.
Evp 15 This one is my second favorite. It starts with some odd whistling and followed by a..well...ill just let you take a listen.. :ghost:
Evp 16 This is just some more whistling.

well everyone, there you go!!! again, i apologize for the crappy quality, but its the best i can do. I assure you, no one has EVER gone down there, only me. One other person knows im doing this, and he's always sat next to me at lunch, so he's never gone down there. Some clips, you can hear us outside, but you have to understand that we are about 100 ft away, and outside. Sometimes, we get loud, but it shouldnt change your minds about any of these. Once again, im glad to have found this site, and please, let me know what you think of them, and i apologize for the crappiness of the file site.. :ghost:
