hey i've started decorating my front yard already , trying to do a maze cemetery for the kids this year, having trouble getting it into a maze . i'll figure out something.

My best friend is getting married, and she is wiccan. So I will be attending my first handfasting ceremony. I am also going to be her flowergirl ( so I dont have a clue what i am going to do yet). But, We all are dressing up in halloween costumes, even the guests have to dress in costume. So it should be fun and interesting.

I went to Dixie Cavern's annual "Haunted Cave" tonight and it was alot of fun! The wait was a little long--about an hour--and some of it was standing on an upward incline which is rough on the hamstrings but it was worth it. Not extremely scary but plenty of frights from folks jumping from crevases and such. There's also quite a bit of stair climbing since it's inside the actual caverns. Most of the people coming out seemed to enjoy the experience, except for a group of teenagers who said "That sucked! I want my money back!" but, hey, they're teens so pretty much everything sucks!

I couldn't get any pictures inside but I got a couple of the outside decorations:

Next Friday, I'm going on a ghost walk in Floyd and for Halloween, I think I'm going to the VA Museum of Transportation's "Terror in the Station" where the theme is a train full of zombies has crashed and the guides have to get their groups through before they get infected.

Okay Ambra, not that I have a dirty mind, but that Mummy, doesn't look like a Mummy, it looks like a large body part ! I had to giggle when I first looked at it. I called my mom over to the computer to see what she thought too...she said "Oh my Gosh!" I told her it's suppose to be a Mummy and I guess it has some soft pink lighting on it. Either way a Mummy or a boy part that big would be scary...lol!!

I really didn't see the resemblence to the body part before. I'd take the picture out but I tried to edit my post and I guess there's a limit on that because the edit option isn't coming up.

My legs are killing me today from climbing the stone stairs inside the caverns but I'll probably go again next year. It's worth a little bit of pain.

The sheer number of deaths in the Inquisitions is astounding. There was an estimated 200,000 to 9,000,000 deaths that took place.
We must chant the words...
"Never Again"!!

Here's two pumpkin's that my daughters carved at my friend's 1st Annual Pumpkin Carving Party! It was a blast!! Hannah's is on the left and Sarah's (who won 1st in her age catagory) is on the right. The only requirement for the party was BYOP, bring your own pumpkin, and carving impliment (*Oh yeah..lots of kiddies running around with sharp objects and knives..just kidding...we, responsible, parents were keeping an eye on them) Every kid recieved a prize and left with a gallon ziplock bag full of candy. I'll post up a few more pics from the party and alot of the pumpkins!! JUlie

Bring on the Pumpkins...some brought patterns!

We did ours the old fashion way...Hannah calls hers the Puke Pumpkin...and we really just don't know what happened to Bek's, but it's carved!

Here's one last picture...of my neighbor being a slave driver to my six year old...lol...actually Hannah volunteered to rake up Eric and Michelle's leaves....won't do ours, but theirs....no problem...think it has to do with the bag they gave her.

When I lived in the countryside, we had a BYOP Pumpkin Carving Party every year. It was always a big hit and soooooo easy to put together. So if you're thinking of having one - go for it! You provide a little food and drink, but the entertainment is pumpkin carving - it's too much fun.

Of course, now that I no longer have my assembly line of pumpkin carvers, I'm gonna carve my own in the next day or so (it finally cooled down so they won't immediately decompose) - wish me luck.

OMG, that's great! Thanks for the link! I liked the pumpkins, too. We used to buy the patterns and make some pretty cool ones when the kids were younger.
