People who have been brave enough to venture in usually dont make it pass the 5th gate. I know that you have to walk through the woods to get to the house, but on Halloween the gates are always open. My brother and his friends went on halloween night and when he came back, he was so scared he didnt want to talk about it and wouldn't tell me where it was. I've heard that it is supposedly off of Route 666 in Catawba VA going towards Smith Mountain Lake..
I have a friend that teaches parapsychology and she wants to know the location. I was just wondering if anyone had directions or knew where it was in Virginia. Thanks.

Seven Gates of Hell Discussion
Please note that some of the language on this forum is not for sensitive villagers and is definitely NSFW.
I wanted to point out two inconsistencies in the story you were told, NocturnalAiress, before anyone complains. Slavery had been abolished by the 1930's, so if any African-Americans were killed at that location, they weren't slaves. Also, I think you were referring to the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan rather than the Knights of Columbus. The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic fraternal service organization and has never been associated with racial discrimination.

Welcome to GV - we had a recent discussion here http://www.ghostvill...y...&hl=7 gates regarding the 7 Gates but it's in Pennsylvania, not Virginia. I'm from Maryland originally but recently transplanted to Washington state.
Im aware of the one in PA, but there also a house called the 7 gates of hell in Virginia.
Earth spirit:
I know slavery was abolished by the 1930's, I don't think I was clear when I was talking about the early 1900's, A family owned the house I know a little before the civil war and THEN in the 1930's sometime the KKK took over the house and did, unspeakable things. That is just the legend. Sorry for the miss interrpretation. And thanks for your responses.

Actually, this is a rather interesting topic since you have two "Seven Gates To Hell" in two different states. Hmmm . . . one thing I didn't notice is that no one has gone to Google Earth and typed in the coordinates for both locations. I'd be curious to see what comes up . . .

I live in Bedford Virginia and would be very interested in finding out where this location is. I belong to a local paranormal group and would like to do an investigation there.

I have been there. I am from roanoke, va. im 21 now i went back when i was a student at william byrd high school probably 17-18 at the time it is franklin county not bedford the farthest i hvae gone is only past the second gate because i mindBAD_WORD my self out of it because of what i have heard. As far as why you cant get past the 5th gate, technically you can the 7 gates of hell is meant to be driven through but once you get to the 5th gate all electronic devices including your car cell phone watches anything of the sort go down its like there is a forcefield that completely jams any electronic equipment you may have on you the wierdest part is that if you park outside the 5th gate your car will start and run fine once crossing it though everything shuts off and you are forced to push you vehicle out of the "force field" to start it again i have heard many stories around here about dogs which has also been coroborated on other online sources as well as the fact that there is a house at the end of the gates but people swear that it has residents ive heard stories of people being shot at chased ive heard stories of childrens voices in the woods empty noose's hangin from trees in the woods a woman screaming trees that appear to have blood stained bark lots of crazy stuff i have a new girlfriend now thats very into the paranormal and we plan on visiting sometime soon would like to go out there with a professional ghost hunter though i think what would be amazing i can lead anyone right to the gatesI've never heard of the 7 gates of hell. I've lived in Bedford, VA for about 13 years, and Salem, VA for about 25 years before that. Would be an interesting place to explore. I know where Route 666/ Merriman Way Lane is up at Smith Mountain Lake, but it's technically in Franklin County, just across the Hale's Ford Bridge from Bedford County. Catawba is on the other side of Roanoke County from S.M.L. I don't know if there is a Route 666 in Catawba but Catawba isn't all that close to Bedford.
It sure would be cool to find out where this is and go investigate it.

My girlfriend and I are definitely wanting to find the "Seven Gates of Hell".
I live in Botetourt County, which is right next to Bedford & Roanoke.
I think it was the OP that mentioned it being in Catawba - Catawba is a local within Botetourt, and there is definitely a rt666 in the area. However - the Botetourt county rt666 is nowhere near the 666 in Bedford, and i can assure you there is nothing supernatural on rt666 in Botetourt/Catawba (rode the school bus up that road for ten years, and live next to the road).
From the reading I have done recently, there are two possible/suggested locations for the 7 gates of hell in the Bedford area -
1)
i read someone mention it was near one of the churches that are on Rt 666 in Moneta (town/area in Bedford). on google maps - type this into the search bar:
Virginia 122 & State Route 666, Moneta, Franklin, Virginia 24121
2)
I read someone else say that it is off of Bandy Mill Rd in Hardy Va, (again, hardy is in Bedford). However - someone else said that they live on that road and that anyone seen looking for the 7gates there will have the cops called on them (kinda makes me think this is the one). However - it's not on rt666... actual address that someone on another site posted as the location:
2527 Bandy Mill Rd Hardy VA.
I think my g/f and I are going to check out both of these places sometime soon (maybe on halloween night) and see what we find.

This is an urban legend and the original Seven Gates has probably been demolished or overgrown. I wouldn't mind finding the original site if it so exists, and its intriguing to know that there is more than one area containing it. The first link, Trout Run Rd. may have more. There is a small private road on Trout Run near the area it turns into Range Rd. that may be worth checking out - I remember there being signs for a tree farm or some such nearby and No Trespassing signs.. I was voted out of walking back there by my companions, so if anyone knows anything more, it would be cool to post.
