well, I have never really went by authors, nor do have any favs. if the works are good enough, I do enjoy! well, and am not much a poem enthusiast either! but talking about Poe, whatever I have come across of his, were just brialliant works ;D

There isn't a Poe anything that I don't enjoy.  I love Poe.  One of my favorites is El Dorado

i love dark things the have more intresting things in them i think i like the raven .. thats cool ... the pitch and the pendulem scuz sellings is just creepy

I hate Poe.  There are so many better horror authors out there, and somehow someone decided that even though he can't write terribly well, Poe should be heralded as some sort of genius.  Bah.  If it wasn't for his poems, I couldn't think of anything in his favor.

"The Raven" has always been one of my favorites. Really creates an eerie overcast atmosphere.

And BTW, who said he couldn't write? With all the wonderfully creepy now classic tales he's told and poems he wrote, you sure could have fooled me!

Ever notice how, regardless of how good something is, there's always someone ready to piss in the punch bowl.

This isn't a poll on who your favorite author is.

Poe is one of the great writers of his age for being the father of the modern Police Detective novel with his Murders in the Rue Morgue (1841). This work set the tone for every decetive novel to follow. To bah Poe only shows the true depth of a lack of education.

Whether we like it or not, enjoy him or not, Edgar Allan Poe was indeed a great poet. Few can match his "strength" with the  verse. Well, as nothing good runs long, his life too was cut short!

The Raven,the Fall of the House of the Ushers, tell tell heart, and I could never forget the black cat I loved all of Poe's work but these stories have stayed with me since I was around five years old and I've loved them.

You know who a really great horror writer was?  Algernon Blackwood.  Why can't we study him in school, if we have to read a horror writer?
