Has anyone seen the remakes of S. King's Carrie and the Shining? I liked the original movies and the books even better. But my own personal opinion is stick to the original screenplays. I thought that they were watered down and poor copies of the originals.  What ar the thoughts of the Villagers?

I like the 1st Carrie and the 1st Shining is a classic but the remake of the Shining I think went more into the haunting side of things.the only thing that drove me nuts was the littles  boys voice  ;) but the 1st ones are my all time favs. that is the case in most movies ,imo :)

For me I for the most part always like the original the best. The Shining was a classic and so was Carrie.I liked The Shining remake I, did care for the Carrie remake.Sometimes things are better left alone. The classic The Haunting is a great example. The original is one of the best classic horror movies Ive ever seen. The remake with Liam Nesson(who I adore) was a bad bad remake.Should have be left alone..

I didn't like the Carrie remake at all.  My friend had never seen Carrie before and she watched the remake. She was very disappointed. I had to tell her that the original was better.

I have to say the Carrie remake was AWFUL!!But I thought the remake of the Shining was pretty good...actually stuck more things in the movie from the book...plus there is something to say for the special effects that the movie industry has now that they didnt have back from when the original Shining/Carrie was made. But I still dig the originals of both movies.

Movie remakes that I liked, hmm, well there was "Godzilla" of course, "The Fly," and "The Blob." I can't compare "Planet of the Apes" because I thought they were equally good interpretations of the story.

Most all remakes are horrible. The shinning remake definetly held true to that. The original was much better. As for Carrie, I've neevr seen the remake

lets face it...they just can't seem to make a good scary movie like them anymore. you know...the ones that creep you out so bad you don't even want to go to the bathroom by yourself..in your own home. now they just make bloodbath slasher movies, freddy, jason ect. the 1st shining and carrie kicked butt, the remakes aren't even worth seei 8)ng.

The "Psycho" remake sucked, no question. The "Psycho" sequels weren't great either.

The "Children of the Corn" sequels weren't what I would call quality. I thought that it would go away after the second movie but it just kept going and going...like the Energizer Bunny.

The Psycho sequals were definetly not worth while. I must admit that a more recent horror/suspense movie that I didn't think was all that bad was "What Lies Beneath". Of course, myself being a big Indiana Jones fan it was a little weird seeing Harrison Ford play the bad guy lol.

i thought that was the best part of that movie. you just don't think of dr. jones as a killer. i thought THE RING  was kinda scary. the one big let down i think was the new movie 28 DAYS LATER. they said it was the scariest movie of the year. it was ok but it didn't scare me at all.

What I really didn't think was necessary was the Vince Vaughn masturbation scene in the remake of Psycho. That was lame and did not fit in with storyline at all.

I did like the Planet of the Apes remake as much as the original.
