For the benefit of those in the Denver area, a memorial service for Alexa is planned for Saturday, October 29th at the Evergreen Cemetery in Evergreen, Colorado.

And as fate would have it, I'll be nearby in Estes Park on that date , so I'm planning to attend. It looks like I'll be the official Ghostvillage representative at the service, but if any other villagers will be there, please let me know so we can introduce ourselves.

Here's a link to her memorial page on Facebook if no one has posted it yet:

For those of you who were not Facebook friends with Alexa and would like to be added to her account, here's a message from her mom:

To those of you who have asked for a friend request, this is her Mom, Angie, I have done the "mom thing" and "hi-jacked" her account. Everybody was Lex's friend!

So just send a Friend request to Alexa Simmons on Facebook and her mother will see to it that you're added. Her family will be posting updates as things progress.

many people posted on Alexa's regular FB page. Did those posts get transfered?

I know what you mean, Puti. The last few days have been exceptionally difficult for me, as well, for a variety of reasons that are too long to list. Plus now I've taken it upon myself to be the GV representative at the memorial service. Trust me, if anyone here would like to volunteer for the job, I'll gladly give it up. I think it was more than just a coincidence that I was going to be in Denver the day of the service, so I felt like I needed to answer to a Higher Calling, shall we say?

I don't know if I'll be asked to speak at the service, but I'm sure the opportunity will be there. If anyone has any anecdotes or other stories they'd like for me to mention, please let me know. You may or may not have access to Private Messaging on GV, so I can be contacted at ourplace_fcn@yahoo.com if you have anything you'd like to pass along to either myself or Alexa's family.

Also, if anyone would like to send a sympathy card, contact me at the above address, and I'll send you the mailing address. It's also listed on the FB memorial page, but the font is so small in the picture that it's difficult to read.

The memorial service is being held at what looks to be an incredibly beautiful cemetery in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, so take a few minutes to view their website if you get a chance. It's probably the "coolest" cemetery I've ever seen--if a cemetery can be considered "cool," that is!

I don't believe it was "a coincidence" earth_spirit. You're suppose to be there for the rest of us.

It's official now. Alexa's father has asked me to speak for 5-10 minutes at the memorial service, so if you'd like to share any amusing anecdotes or just express how much Alexa will be missed, please send me a note here at GV or ourplace_fcn@yahoo.com.

I've been speaking publicly in many capacities over the years, but this is the first time I've ever had to speak at a memorial service, so help me out, Ghostvillagers! I want this to be a celebration of Alexa's life, not some tear-fest. I can assure you,, though, that I will have a tissue handy. I just want the room to be laughing while we're wiping our eyes! :ghost:
