Our friend, GiaCat21/Alexa passed away Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, in Denver, CO. at appx. 10:00 p.m. She suffered from Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. There is no effective treatment and there is no cure. Alexa spent most of the last 12 years in and out of emergency rooms and dr.'s offices. Yet she remained optimistic and brave. She seemed to be doing much better in the last few months, but then had some setbacks/infections. I don't have any more information at this point, but if I hear more, I'll pass it on.
Rest in Peace my friend.

Rest in peace GiaCat21/Alexa, I remember how I used to read her comments, and feel so much for her pain and trouble, sometimes there are no words to express back to those people, but you always wonder and pray for them.... I am sorry to hear that she is gone, but in a way, she is finally free from all that pain and strugles... May RIP my friend...

She will be missed, but remembered for the strength of her soul and that awesome attitude. Taught us many a lessons, RIP Alexa.

After being away from this site for many years (or so it seems), I had to come back to comment on the passing of Alexa.
She was an amazing young woman, with a very strong spirit, an incredible attitude and very bright. Her posts taught us so much about how someone could be going through so much difficulty, but still have a sparkle of optimism about it. As I've mentioned, I haven't been here for a very long time, but I've almost come back, just to see how Alexa was doing. As sad as it is, to read the news of her passing, it's also joyous to see that she is no longer suffering. I hope a little part of her spirit remains with all who have had the pleasure to talk (here) with her and to share a moment of our time with her.
My prayers go to her, and her family.

My 6 year old is a little me, and the baby will be 5 December. He's about 8-12 months behind, but that smile...that beautiful smile.

God I just talked to you....I can't believe you're gone. I'm truly going to miss you Lexi, and my world was certainly more brighter with you in it. Now you're no longer in pain and you're with your beloved Stella. And I'm glad I saved all our messages on FB because even with all your pain and frustration, you were still able to make me laugh. I love you my beautiful friend and I know you're up there with our Julie so try to behave (hahahaha) and I love you xoxoxo

I am sure Alexa is flying with the angels - I spoke to her (via email) at times because my husband has lived with brain illness and all the attendant problems that continued to afflict him, and I saw the same strength of spirit in Alexa that I see in my husband. I just happened across GV today, after I was thinking of Alexa just yesterday! My husband 'died' in my arms on 9/15/11 and was brought back to me, and I can imagine that maybe Alexa came through to my heart and mind - In my faith Alexa passed just as the final names are written in the book of life - and as I read on Yom Kippur it makes even more sense for Alexa - that day that our names are sealed in the book of life, are lives begin all over again - Alexa, I'm sure, has started her life all over again - Blessings to you dear one!
