I'm delighted that my sister started a tradition at her house. She's cooking turkey etc. and we're all bringing other food. I love it that I don't have to do all that cooking anymore!
Happy Thanksgiving!

This year, we are going to stay in a friend's cabin out in the woods - peaceful and calm. I'm going with my inlaws - there will be about ten of us. Should be fun! I definitely have a lot of blessings to be thankful for and will definitely be thinking of that this week!

I tried to gently suggest that we bring the whole mess to my house this year but she wouldn't hear of it. 'Lil sister is one strong cookie!
You're so right. Autumnbelle, about the blessings to be thankful for. To tell the truth, none of us LOVES turkey! But just being together and remembering to be thankful always, (not just that day) is what the day is all about. It's a tradition worth keeping.

My cooking is done now today. I feel like I got out easy. Ham, fresh apple cake, yams, and tonight I'll make the banana pudding. Hope I don't take a chunk out of something before we get there tomorrow!

What're y'all thankful for?

Life is too short to take seriously, none of us get out of it alive.
Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be.Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Back home now from my sister's. I almost needed the garden cart to make it to the porch because of the eating! The nice thing about everyone bringing certain food is that no one does that much cooking. But when it's all on the table... you'd better take a little of everything because they notice if you don't eat what they brought! So I did.
After dinner my sister and I cleared the table together and ended up sitting at the table as the others went outside. Beautiful weather today.
We started talking about things from our childhood and realizing how much we appreciated our parents and loved our siblings, and all in all we were so thankful for our family. Every part of it.
