Dear Ghostvillagers,

Today we implemented a new way to host pictures in our posts. The reason we're doing this is because we've gotten so big so fast that we now need to host our images with a third-party called Putfile.com to save our server space.

This will save us a lot of server space and money by doing this now and give us room to grow where it counts -- with more people and content!

Also, our file size limit was 250 KB, Putfile.com's is 10MB!

After uploading your file to Putfile.com, it will give you a selection of three links to post here in the ghostvillage forum. If you use the middle one marked BB your picture will appear on the forum page for all to see. After posting pictures this way once or twice we guarantee you'll be a pro!

Correct. No one has to use Imageshack. If you have your own preferred way of hosting them, that's fine. And no old posts will change because of this either.
Have you read these books?

I really like the new ImageShack method of posting. Great way to go Jeff, and also save space on your server. And now i can post pics again!
Yippee!

How does Imageshack make it's money? That seems crazy to allow millions of posters to post for free. Ah, I guess it's all in advertising.

Holly suggested that I try Photobucket.com.  While I haven't created an account there yet, it appears to be a user friendly site.  I'll give it a try and let everyone know how I like it.

Here's a sample:

hi Earth, I have been using Photobucket account too (Holly's reccomendation) for quite sometime. It is all the same anyway. It is just that GV has a free upload utility from ImageShack. All my avatars, and other images are linked from my account in Photobucket.

I use photobucket... the only problem is i get my pics put on a cd when i have them processed at walmart, and they usually end up being around 1.2 meg, then photobucket resizes them to 250k, so a bit of quality is lost. its nothing horrible, as you can look at in the last post of the spidergate topic in the haunted places section, maybe this imageshack will be a good move.

Hi all
I all new here and have been looking all over to try to find a spot for my pics.I see that there is a few ways for people to add them.I am going to give it a shot.Bear with me if my first few pic posts I put up might not be right, but going to give it a shot now ;)
I have Picasa2 for all my pics and photobucket. If I use my Picasa2 will that show all my photo's in my trays or just the ones I want up?
Thank you in advance for your replies.

The IMG tags in BB Code take a URL, so images on any server should show up, provided your host allows direct linking (Geocities doesn't).

I didn't lose my mind - I have it backed up on a disk ... somewhere
