I, on the other hand, have seemed to hit a brick wall with my genealogical research on my father's side of the family...they ain't talkin'. Looks like I'll have to dig out the ol' jumper cables on a couple of my aunts. And nobody seems to know when or where my parents were married (could what everybody's been calling all my life be true? )

That's great that you found all of that out about your biological family, Cathy. One never knows what colorful information will come out. Meanderer...what could have your relatives have been calling you? Hmmmm.
Yes, Meanderer, I am a fan of GH or The Beatlers for that matter. I have Iheart radio on my computer at work and I set up multiple stations, including a GH station, an Elvis station, and so on. I'm one of those who can listen to the same song over and over. I'm like that with movies and tv shows as well.
By the way, I went to the Renaissance Festival yesterday. I didn't post it on here because I wasn't sure if we were going; our son had to finish his homework. I do know we are going this coming Sunday for sure as that is the last day and things are usually marked down, much to my wife's delight. So Puti, my wife has said she definitely wants to go this coming Sunday, so there's the plan.
We did have a great time. Lots of food, entertainment, and interesting people. There were even two "Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow" characters. They were pretty good. At one point there was a Johnny Depp-Off in front of one of the restroom areas. And LOTS of attractive women were to be seen in all sizes and colors dressed up in different historical period costumes. Of course I was with MY attractive woman, who kept hitting me after my many comments about the ladies...and some of the guys. I didn't go to the back area where the elephant rides were located; people usually try to climb on me for a ride and it takes about two or so laps around the ride area before people realize that I'm not an elephant (my "trunk" is too short). At least I made some non-refundable coinage. I also picked up on a boot knife to carry in my backpack...just in case.
Puti, sorry I didn't post that we were going yesterday, but now you know we are supposed to go next Sunday.

Glad you had a good time at the Fair, but I was wondering what Johnny Depp's character of "Jack Sparrow" would have to do with anything regarding the Renaissance, actually...

Hi, meanderer. That's okay; many of the regulars with whom I chat haven't posted all week. Was it something I said?
Regarding the Jack Sparrow thing, there was once a Star Wars storm trooper wearing a kilt. Even though it is supposed to be the Renaissance, people come dressed up in the costumes of many periods, from the Dark Ages through Victorian. I went dressed up as a modern hairy fat guy wearing period jeans and t-shirt, though the underwear I was wearing smelled pretty medieval.

I havent been to a ren fair in so long Ill have to look up some that are out west here. I do miss them.

Ok being were "old Timers" here I was wondering with the holidays here and well years slipping by so fast, how many of you sit back and look at all that has happened in your life. What you have done, where you have been, and what lies a head. Some days I sit here looking back and say WOW. so many parts of my life have so many up and downs. but Here I sit on a board I have been on since 2004 and think of all the wonderful friends I have made, we may have never met but feel close in so many ways. No matter what has happen to us no one ever judges. we can come here and vent, post, unwind and just know that there are others out there that care. The paranormal and questions of it, bought us together and sometimes I wonder if our ansestors (ok cant spell) and spirits bought us all together in their own ways. whatever did Im so happy we have found eachother.

Cathy, you need to hit one sometime. RenFair is fun no matter how inaccurate many of the costumes are (people come dressed up as fantasy characters as well). My family is really into it, though none of us has gone in costume, but have contemplated it. While there we do buy different kinds of period weapons that we utilize when chasing the cats and dogs (and each other) around the house.
This is my favorite time of year. Though I'm an atheist, how can anyone not enjoy and appreciate the spirit and meaning of the Christmas season. It always takes me back to past Christmases and the position in life I was in at the time. And I always look back on what has propelled my life in the direction it has taken, whether it be poverty, relocation, family, football injuries, or love, to name but a few factors. This past weekend makes me aware that things have taken a wonderful route to this point in my life. I took my wife and youngest son on a ghost tour of Galveston, Texas, and , among other hobbies and interests, it made me realize how much my wife and I have in common even if it didn't start out that way twenty-one years ago. And then when I take my interest in the paranormal and see that it has led me to others across the country with similar interest, it's just gratifying that I can connected with those of you here that have not necessarily the exact same veiw or belief in the after-life as I, but at least have a friendly and open-minded consideration for other views and are open to discuss them even in a joking manner, the latter being important to me since inject humor into almost everything I do. Yes, during "that", too, much to my wife's annoyance. Anyway, with the exception of meanderer, it is such a pleasure to chat with all of you and get your insights into the paranormal. Okay, maybe including meanderer, but he has to sit on the other side of the country; I hate it when he hits on me.

I'm always amazed at the things that have happened in my life because I never thought they would. I always thought I'd be boring and have the life like everyone else. Some people I have met I never would have thought I would. Places I've been and things I've done. Not every move has been a positive one but it gave me experience. I also see much wasted time. Looking back there are things I would change for the better but then I wouldn't be who I am I realize this. I dreamed of being a writer well that didn't happen. LOL One thing I would never want to change is my family. They have been there for me whether they realize it or not. People I miss the most are my parents.

I know what you mean, White Witch. And you mentioned if that you could change anything about your past you wouldn't be the person you are. There is one aspect of my past that I always wonder "what if...", and that would be the military. With all of the action in which we have been involved in the middle east, I see that as an unrealized direction of my life due to football injuries that cancelled out any military career. With that said, obviously if I had taken that direction I would not be where I am today, with my lovely wife, two great sons, and the life that meandered (no, not you, meanderer; maybe a cousin of yours?) to this point. One can help but think back and wonder about the what if.

Yea the what if is a pain sometimes. I admit I have a few. What if I had kept skating would I have been a part of Stars on Ice? If I had kept with my french would I be teaching now? If I had spent more time writing would I have a book in the stores now?

Mine were military, football player, history teacher, porn star, artist, and chef. For various reasons, none of those came to be after high school, or later life for that matter. Now some can still be realized, but I have yet to cycle back to those particular careers. You can still be a writer; just grab onto a subject or genre and see what you can do with it. I would like to do some comedy writing, but don't know the avenues of submitting work, skits, or ideas.

I am an oldie too but not active anymore! This is the first time in months that i have even thought about this forum.This forum helped me on my adventure of ghost hunting.I am very rarely able to post I am very busy these days.I ghost hunt often and I have had some amazing ghost adventures since my first days of posting on the forum.I enjoyed my days of discussing many subjects and learned a lot from GV.
