OOps, I may have made a mistake..

Like I said, my belief in God is unshakable and I'm not fearful, but I would have been happier if my activities resulted in a few EVP's and little else. All of a sudden this stuff has become very real.
I'm hoping that if we confine our paranormal activities at home to watching paranormal TV shows our visitors will get bored and move on. Time will tell.

Take my grandmother's house for example. That place will remain inactive for months, sometimes the better part of a year, with not so much as a creeky floorboard. But then out of nowhere I'll decide on doing an EVP session, or even simply acknowledging their presence, and suddenly the activity explodes.
It's like they lie dormant. Waiting for somebody, anybody to awknowledge them. And once they get it, they want more, and thus the activity increases.

It is your home and you should set out the intention as such and set the ground rules politely and firmly. You can ask for your guardian spirits and angels to protect you and your home.

Of course it could be the result of spirit attachment due to all of the antiques we have. We just picked up an antique secretary from my wife's grandparents' house (they are both deceased), so who knows what that will bring.

Knowledge is power, so reading other peoples' experiences, like we do here at GV and reading books on a variety of paranormal and esoteric subjects can give us insights and maybe help us be less fearful. There are plenty of webcast and podcast shows that discuss all sorts of issues of the paranormal and even allow you to call in with questions.
In the end, go on your 'gut' feelings and use common sense. If there are 'not nice' entities on 'the other side', well there are also 'nice' enities too, just like in real life. There are 'benign' entities who are just minding their own business.

carlotta, to me the antique attachment theory seems more likely than the other possibilities, though from time to time I will bring in vintage architectural salvage. I know our other neighbors don't have the activity we do (some have minor and rare-occasion events, but nothing like we do), so that can sort of back up that theory. Who knows. And my wife is a physics/chemistry teacher, so we talk from time to time about other or alternate dimensions in their relation to our perception of paranormal happenings (she does most of the talking; I just sit there with raised ears and tilting my head like a confused dog). In the end, the way I consider the experienses of others as well as my own is with common sense; if I can't explain it or it is not an obvious experience (solid apparition, something floating in mid-air, etc.), then it is unexplained and I don't tag it with some sort of mystical, hocus-pocus explanation. And that wears on my sensibilities when others do.
