Leslie wants a moped, does that count? Done the motorcycle gig in the old days, roads and idiot drivers makes it a lot less appealing now....

As a rider, your always on the lookout for drivers who don't see you. Thankfully, I've never gotten into any accident. The main reason I learned to ride was because of the convenience and also to avoid getting stuck in traffic. Mopeds are way cool btw.

Whatever

Hi Autumnbelle :) Well how's traffic in Oklahoma?

Where I am, the traffic is not bad. Where jenjen is (in the Metro Manila area) traffic is pretty bad. They have stuff like 'coding' whereby if your license plate ends in a certain number, you can only drive your car out in certain designated days, aside from that, your car can't be used. They have other restrictions to try to ease Manila traffic.
Some of my cousins who live there, usually go straight to a mall after work and hang out there for a couple of hours before heading home because by then, the traffic woud've hace eased. People get used to it though.

Whatever

Not too bad. A little rush hour congestion in the two major metro areas. And it would be great if they would ever stop the construction on the major interstate highways.

Do people obey the designated days? We have that here for watering lawns, but not for cars. It would be hard to get anywhere without cars here - everything is so spread out and the buses aren't common enough.

Surprisingly, people adhere to it. In some parts all vehicles are allowed back between 9am-4pm then the coding takes effect as rush hour begins. It's very confusing for those who don't live there. I don't know what the population of Oklahoma City is but the Metro Manila area has roughly 12 million people so they do what they can to ease traffic.

The daughter of a family friend of ours is immigrating to Canada. Jenjen's family (her mom, specially) helped in bringing her there. Our friend's daughter (Mary) will be taking care of the daughter of the friend of jenjen's family. Mary is pretty excited because this is her 3rd attempt to apply to go abroad. She picked Canada because it's easier to get in than the USA. The USA has a longer waiting time.

The unfortunate part about this is Mary will be leaving behind her husband and 2 young kids. She has to work with the family she is assigned to for 2 years before she is eligible to go out and find a 'real' job. Then she can begin the paperwork to bring her own family over. It'll be a while before they'll be together physically again. It took 2 years for her to be approved to come to Canada so imagine how much time again will pass for her family to be approved.

It's a sacrifice...for now.

Whatever

Wow Axl - that would be a really long time to be away from one another. But hope it goes well - and hope it is all worth it in the end.

Cry Havoc! And let loose the Dobermans of war!

My knitting and crocheting blog.

Life is too short to take seriously, none of us get out of it alive.

Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be.Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.
