I am of mixed mind personally of what the solution(s) might look like. I am not a social media type of person, so I have no intelligent input into this format. I do think there has to be a multi-tier solution, one to increase the personal interaction between serious participants and another that would not discourage and segregate new members.
Regardless of how this might look, the participation of the mods (or directors or whatever the titles it ends up having) is going to be a necessity. I have been part of several experiments that started off very energetic but then wandered off into the wasteland and whithered away. With so many media and internet activities, only the interesting ones flourish. There is just not enough time to stop by a languishing site. No matter how solid and varied the membership would be, unless there is direction and motion, it just doesn't work.

I agree leslie_dragonlvr. As far as hot topics go...I think this topic is the hottest one we've had in several months.

I know I enjoyed meeting Leslie and Greg, last summer. It might be good to try to get people together.

Hey there she is! I saw you were still about, yay!
We enjoyed meeting you also last summer, that was cool! Wish we had more time to hang out after the wedding craziness! But we did FINALLY get to meet after all these years on GV! I have met quite a few folks from GV over the years, it is a lot of fun! Many of us have been like family. I remember when we had planned to have a GV camp out sort of thing a long time ago, I do believe they did have one or two prior to that one. Meeting in different places would be cool, we would just have to do it simply on our own somehow....

Probably the first step to any meet-up would be to determine where everyone who would be interested in doing it is located. From there it would be a matter of finding a point within reason that suits most,(not necessarily all) of the people involved.

Obviously with something covering this large an area some are going to be simply too far away or it would be too costly to travel. The first meetup especially should be mostly based on ease of getting there till it gets going. Then after that we could pick more distant spots based on activities available or sites to see. Eventually it could be held various places so all could participate.

Took a real tour of the place this morning, and it is almost as if there are too many categories. There are some interesting threads that just got buried or lost in the clutter. The front end of the site is a bit dated and not readily obvious as to the content. So, not knowing what our fearless leader with the very small print has in mind for the reset, I would like to see a major stream-lining of the content and indexing.

this is my first forum and i am very much a newbie here but I will tell you that my first impression of this site was a little sad. The threads are old and have not been updated. There does not seem to be a lot of members or if there are they do not post. Some of the subject matter seems a little old and worn too. PLEASE do not take offense as my intentions are purely for the sake of offering some insight from a new set of eyes. I'm not sure how to start a new thread or a dozen....or I would. It is also very time consuming to check up every day to see if anyone has posted a response to your comment...only to find that no one has or if they did its something like "cool". I am not an investigator or hunter....but I do look for people who have had experiences similar to mine...and I would love to be able to help someone else less experienced by offering my advice and sharing my story.   I think planning meet-ups or investigations is an excellent idea..i would love to participate in both but since I live in the depths of the Appalachian mountains (LITERALLY IN THE STICKS)...i'm not sure how realistic that notion is.I'm not sure how many posts I've racked up but so far not one person has replied or responded to anything I've posted....It's lonely on this end. Too lonely.

I understand you, this was infact one of the busiest places in parnormal sites till 4-5 yerars ago, but thankfully after an almost no activity for two years, I am glad things are picking up slowly now.

Do enjoy the stay with us, shall try to do whatever best we can to push the participation. Maybe we need fresh blood tointill the vibe.

Hey I'm full of ideas...and this is all relatively new to me....forums and posting and such....but i think it would be good to have a topic of the day......or at the very least one a week....gives us a reason to check in and see whats new and whats being said.I watch all the paranormal shows and keep up with several sites...I'm always researching and lately have been exploring the local archives for events that occurred many years ago here. I think I could write several books easily..though i seldom have enough quiet  time to commit to that foray...I am gonna post here and respond to as much as i can..hope that helps by keeping things a bit more active and current...i'm in.  Lets keep this thread going with new ideas and some much needed brainstorming.                                                                                                                            RAVUS

A weekly topic would work.  problem is that such narrow topics often get few responses due to teh wide variety of people.  For instance, some are investigators, some are not.  The ones who are not would probably not have much to say in a discussion about equipment.  Some are spiritual, some are skeptics.  Skeptics porobably would have little to say about a topic related to a medium for example, just as the spiritual people often criticize the skeptic for not having faith.

Point is what is needed are more warm bodies from all aspects so there is enough interest to carry various topics from all aspects.  And I definitely think a met-up or investigation organized by some members could be helpful in stirring interest. I too am here in Appalachia and outside connections are rare.  I did attempt to organize a mini conference a couple years ago but it failed to get enough interest to persue the actual plan.  But maybe if we could get sufficient interest from members something might yet take place.

I never did "MyFace" and I only do Facebook because I have to... I check it once a month whether I need to or not... mostly not.

With Skype, Viber, and the other face to face programs "Face Book" is rather unnecessary and not very secure.

For the kids it seems tumbler, pintrest, instagram and others have taken the place of "Face Book".

"Face Book" is sooooooo Granny'sville now, Dude!

I am not very familiar with the technological or scientific side of the paranormal...I watch the shows but thats about it.....I do have a degree in psychology for all thats worth ...but I really need to be schooled on the technological aspect of all this as i want to be well rounded on the subject. I am sure many others feel the same way. classification of spirit beings is always interesting.I get that a lot. What is it and what does it want?...researching local legends and stories to try to tie  them to actual events......very cool! If the weekly topic did'nt get a lot of hits.....at least there would be a new one in a week.....going in a different direction....and there is always the other threads....witch need to be kept current.....in the beginning I did not even read the headings for those dated 2013......I've been reaching a little further back lately to bring those up a bit.....when are we allowed to start new threads?

I may not be on at all times and with that said, may not even post when I do come on, but I do like to come here often to see how everyone is doing..even if it`s just a few minutes at a time.
I`ve been super busy this year, taking a CNA course, and doing my internship with that, all while being busy with life adventures.

I miss everyone on here so much, and I have to agree with OP. It`s saddening and heartbreaking in a way to see how so many of us used to be so close, and without even as much as a goodbye, those we were once close to have up and left. :(

it is also heartbreaking to see that so many of our ghost village family have even passed on. Which I still think of them in my day to day.

with that note, maybe we can have an online reunion of some sort, to hopefully pull all of us back toghther. Even if it were just an hour.

I have ben here for several years and have watched this decline.  It is not a problem with the forum itself, rather a general loss of interest on the part of many people.  And it goes beyond here, it extends to Facebook, Tweeter, and other forums as well.  Even para-TV is experiencing it, consequently the rediculous extremes they are going to to try to spur interest in their shows.

The problem as I see it in a way boredom.  Posting over and over gets repititious.  People want something new to stir their interest.  That is why when a new media opens everyone flocks there for a while.  Until it too becomes boring.  Then they either move on or just fade away..

What is needed are new ideas.  Emma suggsts a reunion of sorts.  Good idea, if we can get word out to those who aren't here.  I have also thought localized meet-ups or investigations might help.  It would provide a common point of interest even if only for those in a particular locale.  And a similar event in another location would attract another group of people, and so on.   And if it caught on a sharing of ideas and results could be done here between the groups, not to mention the ongoing activity needed to organize or keep such localized groups in contact with each other and among themselves.
