Apperantly The Wiccans and Pagans of calgary are holding the first public Samhain ritual on friday at 9pm in a park and are inciting anyone who wants to come join them!  Does any one know what they do? Should i go and check it out? ???

Spirit of the Harvest or also known as the Grim Reaper but, I'm not sure though.

Samhain is the old Wiccan New Year, also known as the Witch's New Year.  You can read a brief summary by Jeff Belanger here on the calendar description:

For a little more in-depth information and some comparisons between Halloween and Samhain, there are some excellent short texts and informative links here at the Witche's Voice, an online magazine devoted to Wiccan and related craft:

For a history of Samhain through Halloween take a look at last year's Halloween "Legends of the Supernatural" article: http://www.ghostvill..._10192002.shtml

i've been to a few private ceremonies and parties involving some samhain rites, but i've never had the honor of attending a wiccan community event.

are you worried about what to expect?

it's really wonderful - the honored spirits of the dead are invited to share the company of the living during part of the celebration.  it's a great time to honor and tribute your relatives or anyone that you've admired that may have passed on.

Samhain.  Hmmm.

I believe that's the name of one of Glen Danzig's old punk groups, before he joined the Misfits.

Samhain =  A Celtic ceromony that has now become what we know as Halloween.

The Druids were the spiritual, social, and intellectual leaders of the Celtic people. So in a sense, Druids are also Celts. And I agree -- they are cool.
