Hello, my name is Justin, I am new here. I live nearby Camp CT, literally 5 minutes away. I recently went to Trinity Church in Brooklyn, CT and was looking up more "haunted" places. I stumbed upon Camp CT and read every post in this topic. I decided to take a look for myself last night at midnight. I went with one other person, and we went a few good miles into the place.

At first, we came up on a lake. The sound of bullfrogs is very loud, and there was a small patch of fog over the lake. We felt a few rain drops, but it was a pretty clear night. The lake has a trail going all around it. We went right. We saw a dumpster and a few old truck beds in the bushes. As we continued on, we got to a pavillion area. This place was kind of freaky, as there were objects falling from the trees onto the roof of the place, but there are only pine trees surrounding the area. Acorns don't fall from pine trees.

We checked the place out for a while, and eventually went further. A little ways down the trail, there is a huge pile of brush and wood. We went past the pile, and ended up at what looked to be a worship area of some sorts. This place was a clearing in the woods, started with a stone archway. You walk through the archway, and end up at a spot with many benches. Two columns of benches and a stone table and stone podium at the front. We sat there for a long time, just waiting and listening. After a few minutes, the feeling got a little different as we both got sort of restless. I had the feeling of being watched the entire time.

On the way out, we went down further to the lake. I walked right up to the waterline, and snapped a few pictures. At that point I got the chills, and got very cold. I stepped back from the lake, and took a few more pictures. I shook the feeling off, and my friend and I continued on. We both stopped in our tracks at the same exact time, and both saw a red light get brighter and brighter. It eventually moved and faded. At this point, I was freaked out a bit, and we started to leave. At the entrance gate, my hair on my arms were standing and I felt very weird. We got picked up soon after.

Now after looking at the pics, this place makes me really wonder. I will post them in a few.

About 10 pictures here. Enjoy, and tell me what you think. Also, I am willing to go again, and stay longer next time. I live 5 mins from this place and would love to go sometime soon.

I will be bringing a small team out with me again tonight to the camp. If everyone shows up, we should have night-vision cameras, energy detectors, sound recorders, and more. My friend's uncle is an older man in his 50's, and when I told him my story, he said he wouldn't miss it. We will be going at about 2 am, and staying til about 4. This should be fun. If anyone would like to go that lives near the area, juet let me know. I have no problems bringing anyone else that's interested.

Talk to ya soon.

JLM, thanks for taking the time to post your pictures, especially since this has been a hot topic for quite some time.

BTW--you do have permission to be at the camp, don't you?

Hi there Justin, welcome to the village. In your post you said that you read the rest of the thread so I'm sure you've seen that I've been there as well, and your experience sounds very similar. If you don't mind, I'd be interested in going with you tonight. I'll PM you my number.

I didn't realize that it was still being used, and was private property. I will not be making the trip after all. But if someone somehow gets permission, I'd love to go.

That's probably for the best, Justin. I hate to sound like a parent, but I suspect the camp is a real hot spot for ghost hunters and the local constable has been told to keep an eye on the place. All the adventure of an exciting evening isn't worth what it could cost you in fines--and possibly jail time--if you're busted for trespassing.

On a more personal note, I'm reminded of the time my son decided to trespass on a local farmer's land one afternoon and ended up breaking his leg when he fell in a drainage ditch (he has three stainless steel pins in it to this day.) The risk of injury would be much worse if you guys were out there at 2:00 AM!

Yeah that would be a good idea, we'll have to wait on it then. Hopefully that IOOF guy will post more info.

Okay I just want to post a bulletin to warn everybody to STAY AWAY FROM CAMP CT! I don't know if its haunted or not but the people that own it, the Oddfellows, are VIOLENT and you are risking your life. A friend and I walked down there last night for the first time and a truck kept driving by us. They have people doing 24-hour surveillence! This is serious people, whatever that group uses the camp for they do not want anyone finding out. We were chased and our lives were threatened. Please do yourselves a favor and stay clear of this place.

IT'S TIME TO PUT THIS ONE TO BED!!

Hi, I probably have the most experience with this pace out of anyone here. I have spent countless hours there both at night and during the day. It is my strong conclusion that the place is most likely NOT haunted. The owners that camp out there at night are just really BAD_WORD that people keep coming there in the middle of the nite and bothering them. In the day they do a lot of shooting there and target practice, they are big into guns. At night they just go down there to be alone and have a little fire going maybe have a beer or two. I have encountered the truck before too. There is no 24 hour surveillance  The camp is just heavily used during the day and very often at night. I have been there plenty of times at night where no one is there. Recently I went there with a few people from the forums here at night. We set up a Ouija board for an hour or so and asked for any spirits, entities exc to use our energy to communicate via the board. When that failed we dared and taunted any spirit into communicating or showing a sign. We got nothing.

After all my experience there I really feel that it is not haunted and any strange light or noise is the result of other humans venturing there at night and scaring each other. Orbs at night that are not seen by the eye are usually from the flash on the camera reflecting off very fine sand and dust particles in the air. Please don't waste your time on this place and put yourself in danger for nothing. Unless there is proof of the history it appears to be a big myth/hoax.

Don't waste your time people!!

Of course I have heard all the rumors about the place, which is way we went. I actually have a better knowledge of the place than you'd think. I don't know about ghost activity but I'm skeptical of it as well. What I AM sure of is that THERE IS SURVEILENCE, we saw the same truck passing back and forth before we went in but didn't think too much of it. If these were normal people running the camp they would have just called the cops down there if they were afraid of tresspassers, since Colchester is like Statie central. But they didn't; they chased us in a truck and threatened our lives. Whoever this group is clearly is hiding something illegal down there if they are willing to kill to protect their secrets. And whoever chased us was able to unlock the gate, so they are definitely 'in' on whatever is happening down there.

And I know they love their guns with all the .22 and 9 mil shells on the ground. Funny though, I've never heard of doing target practice without targets or clay pigeons; that is unless they're using something else...

Well first of all no one knows if something really even happened there. All rumor, no news paper reports or anything have ever been discovered. Secondly the guy in the truck is one of the owners. He drives down there and camps out to get away. He drives around in his truck if he thinks he hears people down there to scare them away. The last thing I want to do would be to take his side but if you owned a camp and were there at night how would you feel if kids/people kept walking down there bothering you all the time, especially looking for ghosts when its not even haunted. People go there on just about a nightly basis. They cannot just call the cops everytime they hear someone the cops would get sick of babysitting. I went there and the guy was camping out by the fire and when he herd us walking he then got in his truck and drove around looking for us... Makes sence.

Not doubting your story but j/c,
How did you get away if he was chasing you in the truck and trying to kill you? From the road to the camp is about 1.5 miles he would of easily outpaced you in his truck and he was probably confident in confronting you because chances are he was armed.

I think unless we can even find something documented about this place we should put it to bed. If something like that DID happen there would be a record. I could NEVER get any real proof of any ghost or anything there. There is nothing abnormal down there at all. If there was some cult or something wierd there would be candles and other tell tail signs. You have to remember that people are already scard and expecting something when they go there so if something normal happens they think its a ghost. Like I said I spent countless nights there with nothing to show even after daring and provoking any entity!

0% Factual information about the place on record 100% rumor he said she said stuff. Please don't waste your time and risk getting caught down there when the owner is camping out. It's not like your risking it for a good chance of seeing something because there is nothing at all to find trust me I know and so do many other members on here including village elders. I was like you and did not listen to them, had to find out for myself and unfortunatly they were right its not really haunted. You should spend your time on REAL documented hauntings in CT like this one

Highly documented and many credible witnesses including the catholic church and the warrens just to name a couple.

Hey EricZ,

Hate to tell you this, but that case, A haunting in Connecticut was debunked back in 1992. There's another thread somewhere about that. Turns out the son was schizophrenic, didn't have cancer. The house is now an apartment building with 3 units and there's never been any reports of activity other than the "story" by the people. Just like Amityville turned out to be a hoax, so did this one in Southington.

I agree with you 100% about Camp CT. Why bother? It's private property and if I were the owner I wouldn't want a bunch of people trespassing on my property and leaving behind all their litter for me to clean up. I'm sure it's mostly teens that go out there to party and stuff and just imagine all the beer cans, cigarette butts and liquor bottles they constantly have to pick up because of them. I don't believe they are some sort of cult, just citizens who want peace and quiet on their property. Why should it be so hard for people to respect that? Not only that, but if someone were to get hurt on their land, they could be sued and these days attorneys are very good at winning or at least getting settlements on most cases they take on. You know parents these days: "my kids can do no wrong, so therefore little Johnny shouldn't have to take responsibility for breaking the law, so we're gonna sue you for not protecting our son." Seriously, that is how people think these days. Oops, I'm totally off track now. Bye. Kira

Not to get OT but I have personally visited the house, cemetery and the St Thomas church that was involved in the exorcism. It was not just the boy that experienced it. The mom, dad, their other son, demonologist researchers, the warrens, the Connecticut diesis 2 different clergymen all experienced it. There is no way they were all making it up. I noticed in real life the house IS less then a quarter mile from the hospital that the boy was treated. In the video they actually filmed and show both the real house and the real hospital. If you read the end credits it says thanks to the UCMC hospital, the St Thomas church exc exc for letting them film the actual location. I don’t see how the hospital would also go along with the hoax and let them film the real location if they did not really treat the boy. Remember even though people live there now that was AFTER the exorcism and it was considered a success and it had left the house. The family even moved right after the exorcism further proof because they were scared it would return. I took some pictures of my venture there just last week. I plan on returning soon and doing more work there. I noticed that the local police keep watch on the house and constantly drive by. I also included video still shots from the movie of house and cemetery then actual photos of them in real life and on my GPS showing the cemetery.

Could you please give me the link to where they believed it was made up? It’s possible but I don’t think they could get that many people to go along with it and all lie about it on camera.

Here are the pictures I took..
