Okay ... I have hear this has been debunked. And yet Ed and Lorraiine and Hans Holzer still claim that things have happened at this location. So ... I ask you ... is this real? Or is this just a book of fiction written by Jay Anson?

I almost watched this movie the other night, but the image of the house in the beginning scared the hell out of me.

I think it was a hoax too, but wasn't there a picture taken recently on the inside and it showed a young boy with filmed over eyes? It was a weird picture. If it wasn't of this house, does anyone know where it was taken? And does anyone else know of this picture?

Yes, that's the pic she means, I posted the link onto the spiritography board a bit ago. :weeee:

Myself, I think the Lutz's part (as detailed in the book) is false, however, I maintain that it's entirely possible that after the DeFoe murders, one or more of the DeFoe's remained behind for a time. So in my mind, a period of some standard paranormal activity is possible at that location, however, the pig with the glowing eyes, etc, etc, are false.

I don't remember the movie too well. I did read the book not long ago. It seems they took alot of poetic license. It was too unbelievable for me. Especially the pig part. Still makes for good Hollywood, I suppose.

ok, as a friend of George Lutz's it is my duty to first inform you all that i do not believe in any way that this is a hoax. I've spent hours talking with george. And he is one of the most genuine guys you'll ever meet. IF you hear his side of what went on in that house, you can see it in his eyes he's telling the truth. Jay Anson took creative liberties with the book and the movie took even more so....He just released some cd interviews of his side. There are also archived shows of when hes been on The Lou Gentile show being interviewed. You know i can say that some of the people on this message board don't actually exist...that they are in fact a hoax. And if some of u read it and believed it., doesnt make them really a hoax. Research into Amityville yourself, its a fascinating and creepy occurance for sure.

And the picture of the boy you are talkin about was taken years ago for an amityville picture book...it was one of several hundred photos and is the only one with the boy in them

Thank you Amy, that is indeed the photo to which I was referring. Well apparently the house is haunted, but not to the extent or the manner it seemed to be in the movie, but this is evidently the work of Hollywood.

Thanks.

I hate to say this, but I really think Lorraing Warren is all drama and feeding off of the people who believe. No offense everyone. I just get the "We Can Cash In On Fake" vibe from them.

Don't hate me.

I don't think the Warren's take money. I know they have written books and have lectured but I think they're sincere and try to help. I for one think there must be something to this story. I don't know about the goo oozing down the walls or the pig eyes. Thats strictly Hollywood. There was another story about a haunted house in Wilkes Barre, Pa that the Warren's were trying to help out the family. They did help some but it didn't correct the problem. I don't like to watch these movies when I'm alone.

This movie is abailable on On Demand and I think I might try to watch it alone tonight. Wish me luck.

Yes. I think they are sincere. But I do believe that they add a certain element of drama to what they do that really does not need to be there. But the oozing walls ... that could happen. Bad paint and moisture.

ok as far as the warren's are concerned, ive never met them, but i have learned a lot from Lou Gentile who was one of the demonologists trained by them. And Ed and Lorraine did not take money for their investigations. They made their money doing lectures and what not and they have a haunted museum of artifacts from their investigations. Lorraine is a lil wacky from what i'm told but Ed was the real deal from every source i've heard from.
