The Amityville Horror is a real story, not like the movie, but it really was a horror. The family that lived there had a couple of kids, but the oldest was a troublemaker you could say. He had a rather bad drug problem and he solicited money from his father and worked only one day a week at his fathers car dealership. He was violent and i think that his name was butch. But the father i guess was pretty ruthless when it came to the kids and would beat on them and so on and so forth. So finally i guess Butch and one of his sisters finally shot the family as they slept in their beds one night, but butch ended up killing the sister too and blamed it all on the mob saying that his father had ties to them somehow through the dealership, but the truth came out i guess but they never tied it to the sister. The only way that some know that she had any part in it is because of the gunpowder residue on her hand. But thats what really happened there and i do believe that the house is haunted. I know that the house is occupied right now. But i know that you have all heard of the movie and how the house supposively burned down and was built the next day, but that is all untrue. This is the extremely short version to the best of my knowledge. I saw a big thing about it on A&E one night. Not sure of the show though.

Not another one of these threads!!!!!!!! In reaffirming what Vamp has stated probably 100 times in these same type threads, when something as horrific as multiply murders take place, some sort of negative energy takes place, we have yet to define it. However, the media, hollywood, takes advantage of any given situation it can for the money.....Corporate America lives on.....I say we kidnap the house and do extensive research on it, then have a huge weenie roast at the beach.....

I actually did quite a bit of research on the Amnity Ville thing after seeing the movie. From what I recall the movie was actually closer to what really happened then the book ironically enough. I believe the father had said that they added a lot of extra stuff to spice up the movie but over all it's just an evil house.

The things the familly encountered is all stuff we've discussed here at one point or another, dissapearing items, weird behavior, cold, imaginary friends...I guess it could be a hoax, the pictures of that house posted on the links really are disturbing though, you got to admit.

To me the REAL story of the oldest son having mental issues and killing his entire family is way more scary then the movie!

I do belive there may be activity in the house because of the murders...But as far as the movie/book goes...Well I dont really belive any of it!

But I do find it to be very sad if the Lutz/Warrens are making any of this up for $$$$$.......

It was a very tragic thing that happened to that family!

i think i'm one of the few people on this site that actually LOVES these boards on amityville.

i think that there was something going on in that house. not completely to what the lutzes say happened. part of me says that they embellished alot of the details in the book but part of me thinks that everything really happened. i guess we'll never really know what happened to the lutzes but the bottom line is that a family was murdered in that house. that's what makes this story so sad.

I don't know. All I know is that that book really killed me. I think I was 12 - 14 when I read that. LOL. Man ... too bad they can't write them like that anymore.

Honestly, maybe they tried to make people see what they were feeling and saw in their mind's eye.

Well, regardless of what anybody says, this is a free country and a free board, so anybody has the right to post what interests them, if it's ghost related. And if someone chooses not to read it, it's not a real hard thing to skip over it. No need to be tyrannical.

petunia4998, there was no need for that comment, now lets keep it on subject will we.

Now for my pennies worth. I do feel that something happened there, but I do not believe that it was to the extent that the book and movie would like us to believe. Lets face it, most things are to boring for books and tv without a bit of makeup. Sometimes more makeup is used than needed.
