I do have a question, however about Haunted establishments such as these, and although I do believe in hauntings, why do you think so many hotels are haunted, and also wouldn't it be more of an experience if we did not have the preconcieved ideas, that it was haunted in the first place???

Opterasis, check out Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, Massachusetts. And for everyone else...I'm sure ya know of the Farnsworth House and Cashtown Inn in PA.

I've stayed at the Farnsworth in Gettysburg.  It is definately worth a look.

vampchick21.  Don't surprise me about a vampire connection From what I understand the whole area is full of stories about them. some thing about there was a large number of them in new orleans.I believe they also have a vampire club or bar(something)

Lenox Massachuesettes in the Birkshires is a B&B called the Whistler's Innit is said to be haunted by the hired help who worked for the original owners of the house and they are buried across the street from the Inn. Another one is in New Orleans Convent of the Ursalin Nuns and Hotel Ma Aaun DeVille it is said to be haunted by a lady in white who died there in the fire of 1786.Then there is The Audobon Cottages specifically cottage no.4 that is haunted by a confederate soldier who lived there before joining the confederacy during the war.Then there is the Queen Anne Hotel in San Francisco which is said to be haunted by a school teacher who was murdered there by her lover who was a senator. He killed her when she told him she was pregnant with his child so he killed her to keep from ruining his career the room she haunts is room 410 that is where her office was when the building was a school.

I think hotels are often haunted just because of the sheer volume of people who pass through their doors. Then again, that would hold true for just about everywhere, wouldn't it? I do think that because we tend to preserve our hotels, they hold a good deal of history - I think you're much more likely to find a haunted B&B built in 1820 than a Motel 6 built in 1992! Even if tragedy were to occur in the latter, I would hope the spirit would prefer to remain in a happier place if they weren't ready to move on yet.
Also, hotels used to be used more as vacation spots than they are now. Nowadays, they are a convenient place to store our "stuff" while we visit an area. Years ago, the hotels were the vacation spot and the whole reason for selecting a specific place to go.
And,yes, I would prefer to visit a hotel being unaware of its haunted history. I don't like any influence at all to be cast on me.
Still, I would love to visit "The Overlook" in Colorado!

At one time Cripple Creek nearly was a ghost town. There was only a handful of full time residents, though the town grew a little during the summer.  But now there's casino gambling, so there's plenty of activity year 'round!
