a member of my group and I have the opportunity to do the UK ghost tour next summer, but my preference is to do the new england run up the coast, and this is the first stop my friend wants to do. I was going to ask you about the inn, but you've posted about it before I got the gumption up.

Theres a saying around here that go's "Lizzie borden took an axe gave her mother 40 whacks when she realized what she had done she gave her father 41".

if you go to the second thread. it tells the whole story

this is what the house looks like today

"Lizzy Bordan took an ax...."I remember that from when I was a lil girl. We skipped rope to it.
In the victorian era no one thought it possible that a refined fagile female could do something like an ax murder but the illigimate brother adds a whole new twist.  I had not heard that one before.
I heard that after the trial, she sold the house and moved into nice victorian up on the hill with her sister. They never spoke of the murder after the trial.  Afterall, she was aquitted.

I never believed that Lizzie Borden killed her family members. In my opinion, she took the fall because she was an unattached woman, more or less useless in the eyes of society. At the time she lived, prosecutions could be bought and sold.

I also think the hype about the hauntings is to draw more tourists to the location. People do want to visit the home and surrounding area, but a few extra tintillating things don't hurt the attraction.
