It looks to me that the "I" might be a "T" that has been weathered a bit. But of course, that is only my opinion.

Bella, the device you refer to is called Ground Penetrating Radar and they cost in the thousands of dollars to own and operate.  The International airport in this area hired a geo-technical crew to preform a strata test on a proposed runway to check its potential for sinkholes before actually laying down the tarmac. (I work for an engineering firm, this is how I know this.)The bill?  1.5 million dollars.  :o
Otherwise it would be really cool to see what it would come up with in this instance.

Milegone, I could not find a date or other info on stone. I am going to do a rubbing soon
