:wow: That was Archduke Franz Ferdinand heir to the throne of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and his wife, assassinated in Sarajevo. The Czar of Russia was murdered by the Bolshivicks (sp?) in July 1918 in Seberia, outside of the house he and his family were held prisoner in. :Spaz: And there's that whole Arch Duchess Annistasia thing from that. Never heard anything about the Archduke Franz' car though.

Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assasinated on 28th June 1914 by a member of the Red Hand group who then threw himself off a bridge whilst simultaneous ingesting cyanide. His assassination sparked off thecrisis that led to WW1.

I read somewhere that the car ended up on on Ocean Liner headed for the USA which then subsequently sank - similar to the story of Egyptian artifacts on the Titanic. The book I read it in mentioned lots about supposedly 'cursed' vehicles and had a picture of the car - I just can't remember the title! Even Stephen King has a cursed car in his series of books - Christine - a bit more extreme than just a curse and that one starts with a death on the production line!

That's just gross but as long as I have my Mustang and Ford Taurus then I'll be set on vehicles. lol
If I ever had to buy a new car-which I'm sure I will once my Taurus hits the dust then I'll definetly be checking the car out but I'm actually done with buying used cars. Use cars don't like me and so I bought the Taurus and Mustang new so thankfully I never will have to check the car out in every corner. But if I had to buy a used one or could get a deal on a used -(with full warranty that is) then I would definetly inspect the car throughly.

here an "ancient" (about 2 years ago) chav story involving and gearhead chav and his wheels ( ford feista or vauxhual cavalier" chavailier").

this store was told to me by a very high chav on the bus and a man who works at the scrapyard lol.

all words in brackets are words used by my chavvy bus guy

so 2 yrs ago this kid had a car that he had "pimped out old skool" this car ( stole some alloys probably) and was a ok driver and well known for his " ghost riding of his whip", 360's and severe dislike for cops. so he was talking to his "homies" and a question came up about if one of them could have his car. the driver said no way and said he even wanted to be buried with it. they all backed of and some weeks later came up with a plan to get the car. the best driver out of them said he would race the driver ( i'll call him kevin) around the village and if he won he got the car and if kevin won he would give him some "cheeb". kevin, being a cocky lil blighter, said yes and the race was on.

so they raced and just before the finishing line a onlooker through something into the road causing kev to swerve and he crashed and broke his neck( died of course)X_X but the car only had a few scratches and bumps. so the friends take kevins car and " gerry rig it up". it works fine ( this could be anything for a chav car) for the guy who decide to keep it in his garden. so on a hot summer night he invites his pals for a nighttime cruise. during this night ride the cops see the car and its occupants are not belted up and are very rowdy so they try to pull them over but the chavs won't give up so they race off with the police in hot pursuit.

they go down the street where kevins death happened and just at the point where the death happen and the car screams to a holt hits the police car ( killing the cop(s)) and just explodes killing all kevin's lil buddies.

very cliche. my lil chavvo might have watch to much christine lol.

the scrapyard guy told me about what happened after when he himself had the car in his yard and the crazy things that happened. he and his workmates got injuries from the car and it was eventually towed away or buried with kev or something

cheeb= weed i think

ghost riding= dancing around while your car rolls along

gerry rig= fixing up with gaffa tape and glue lol

This one may actually be true.

The story goes like this. Someone, often two homosexual men, commit suicide with a gun in a new Corvette. They are found months later, but the smell is so bad that some used car dealer is offering the car for some outrageously low price.

I heard this one on Johnnie Carson as an Urban Legend, (he was hostile to the supernatural), but before that, I had heard it from a gearhead friend of mine who looked at one out in Lynden Washington. He said that you couldn't get downwind of it or you would "blow chunks".

As a little bonus, one of my two best friends had a job as an automobile upholsterer, and upon one occaision had to clean up jellied blood from underneath a car seat being somewhat the worse for having held a long term suicide. If you think about how many people commit suicide, there have to be some taking place in cars.

'jellied blood'...gross!

If I recall correctly, in the MythBusters Death Car episode they never did get the stench from the car. That's pretty disgusting. When my husband was in the military we went to stay at a friends house that was out in the country in S. Georgia. The next door neighbor was a nice old guy I'd met on a couple of occassions. The last time we went to our friends house we asked about him and they said they hadn't seen or heard from him in about a week. Well, my husband and his friend decided that they should go check on him because he didn't have anyone else and plus he drank quite a lot and was a diabetic. They got about 100 yards from his place when they began to smell something like spoiled meat but much worse. They got to the guys house and couldn't get an answer at the door so they looked in the window and he was lying on his living room floor dead. Imagine that one in the heat and humidity. NOT good at all. It was very sad too because he was such a nice old guy. They eventually had to tear the trailer he lived in down and still you could smell the odor on some nights. Haunted too.? I think it was....

wow I didn't know this one was considered an urban ledged.

My mums BF loves to buy and sell cars, its like and addiction, he was offered a 60's corvette, I went to see it with him, the inside was disgusting, the owner admitted that a body had decomposed in it. (I suspect it was a large dog or something.)

It stank to high heaven.
I did encourage him to buy the car, suggesting the interior be completely stripped down to the metal, including the dash.
He argued that the cost would be to high. So he walked away, but did let one of his friends know about it, one who had that kind of money to spend.

His friend did buy it, did strip the interior though at first tried to salvage the dash, in the end that had to go too.

The restoration was expensive but the car is beautiful. He still owns it to this day.

This all reminds me of the Porsche in which James Dean died in '55. Somewhere I read the wreck was displayed a few places around the country and, supposedly, bad things always happened around it. It "disappeared" on the open road while on the way to another display. Anyone hear if it was ever re-discovered? Or know any more about the "bad things" associated with it?

Car was never found, nor was the truck hauling it. :)

Nice to be back. Wonder who I made "ill" with me back in 2009...at 67 am lucky to recall what I had for dinner 2 days ago. Guess some folks will have to explain it to me as I have no clue.
