THE FAMOUS FINAL SCENE

Think in terms of bridges burned
Think of seasons that must end
See the rivers rise and fall
They will rise and fall again
Everything must have an end
Like an ocean to a shore
Like a river to a stream
Like a river to a stream
It's the famous final scene
And how you tried to make it work
Did you really think it could
How you tried to make it last
Did you really think it would
Like a guest who stayed too long
Now it's finally time to leave
Yes, it's finally time to leave
Take it calmly and serene
It's the famous final scene
It's been coming on so long
You were just the last to know
It's been a long time since you've smiled
Seems like oh so long ago
Now the stage has all been set
And the nights are growing cold
Soon the winter will be here
And there's no one warm to hold
Now the lines have all been read
And you knew them all by heart
Now you move toward the door
Here it comes the hardest part
Try the handle of the road
Feeling different feeling strange
This can never be arranged
As the light fades from the screen
From the famous final scene

Shelter Me

Everybody needs a little place they can hide,
somewhere to call their own,
don't let nobody inside.
Every now and then we all need to let go,
to some it's the doctor,
to me it's rock-n-roll.

To some it's a bottle,
to some it's a pill,
some people wave the bible
'cause it's givin' them a thrill.
Others point the finger
if they don't like what they see.
If you live in a glass house,
don't be throwing rocks at me.

We all need a little shelter,
a little helper, to get us by.
We all need a little shelter,
just a little helper, ooh and it'll be alright.

Check out Mr. Politician in his suit and tie,
but when the doors are closed,
there is nothing he won't try.
Meanwhile Mr' Medicine's treating his best friend's wife.

Tipper lead the war against the record industry,
she said she saw the devil on her M-TV.
To look into the cabinet it takes more than a key,
just like Jimmy's skeleton's and his ministry.

We all need a little shelter,
a little helper, to get us by.
We all need a little shelter,
just a little helper, ooh and it'll be alright.

I think my new moderator appointment made me think of this song and thread...It's one I find very moving.

"Hymn To The Local Gods" by Shriekback

Where are the poems and the flowers?
Where are the shrines to the local gods?
They never write now or ring us
Whatever happened to the local gods?
What are their names? Where do they live now?
Where do we go to light a candle to them now?

They held the soul of the city
The streets were bright with the local gods
The days were sweet with their meanings
The nights were vivid with the local gods
The day they left we never saw their going
We woke one morning and the world was less than it had been

In the canals and the wastelands
Up in the spires, under the flyovers
Still you can see, with the right eyes,
the shining presence of the local gods
Stand in the silence, you can hear them whisper
Hearing their laughter echo in the steel and stone

So leave a fire in the window
Pour the wine under the underpass
Let's all go down to the river
We'll go swimming with the local gods
They never died we only lost their number
All you can find here, worship and more will appear

Nature, drawing and painting, writing, photography, reading. I am learning how to knit...but I'm not very good at it. The list is endless. The one thing that I don't have a big love for is sports. I wish I could like it, but just can't get into it for some reason.

Hi all. Most music in the charts (in england anyway)is rubbish at the moment, (yes that is a teenager saying that!) but there are some good ones, so i thought it would be interesting to see other people's favouriote lyrics to songs.

some of mine are:

Everybody hurts take comfort in your friends Don't throw your hand,If you feel like you're alone, no, no, no, you are not alone- Everybody hurts (only heard of it 'cos G4 sang it on the Xfactor and i have their album)

"You are beautiful no matter what they say, words can't bring us down, so don't you bring me down today."- Chirstina Aguleria, Beautiful.

"Anyone of us, anyone can hurt someone they love, hearts will break" Anyone of us

"and down the waterfall wherever it may take me, i know that life won't break me, when it comes to fall, she won't forsake me, I'm loving angels instead" - Angels robbie williams.

"Try as i may i can never explain, what i hear when you don't say a thing"- Ronan Keating- when you say nothing at all.

Ok, there are a few. If anyone wnats me to send them the rest of the lyrics, PM me and i'll do my best.

What other songs spoke out to you?
Abi

Hi there,
This is one of my most favorite songs although I had forgotten about it until I read your post. It was originally done by REM back in the 80s (I think). I just love it. :)

EVERYBODY HURTS

When the day is long and the night, the night is yours alone,
When you're sure you've had enough of this life, well hang on
Don't let yourself go, 'cause everybody cries and everybody hurts sometimes

Sometimes everything is wrong. Now it's time to sing along
When your day is night alone, (hold on, hold on)
If you feel like letting go, (hold on)
When you think you've had too much of this life, well hang on

'Cause everybody hurts. Take comfort in your friends
Everybody hurts. Don't throw your hand. Oh, no. Don't throw your hand
If you feel like you're alone, no, no, no, you are not alone

If you're on your own in this life, the days and nights are long,
When you think you've had too much of this life to hang on

Well, everybody hurts sometimes,
Everybody cries. And everybody hurts sometimes
And everybody hurts sometimes. So, hold on, hold on
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on
Everybody hurts. You are not alone
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars, you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.Posted Image

This is one of my favorites for sure . It makes me think about my children when I hear it .

ARTIST: Paul Simon
TITLE: Slip Sliding Away

Slip sliding away, slip sliding away
You know the nearer your destination
The more you're slip sliding away

I know a man, he came from my hometown
He wore his passion for his woman like a thorny crown
He said Delores, I live in fear
My love for you's so overpowering
I'm afraid that I will disappear

I know a woman, became a wife
These are the very words she uses to describe her life
She said a good day ain't got no rain
She said a bad day is when I lie in the bed
And I think of things that might have been

My Favorite verse :purplebounce:

And I know a father who had a son
He longed to tell him all the reasons for the things he'd done
He came a long way just to explain
He kissed his boy as he lay sleeping
Then he turned around and headed home again

My second Favorite

God only knows, God makes his plan
The information's unavailable to the mortal man
We work our jobs, collect our pay
Believe we're gliding down the highway
When in fact we're slip sliding away

Many of the truths that we cling to depend greatly upon our point of view.Posted Image

Why do I say
Don't walk away
You'll be the way you were before
When you don't want me anymore

Don't turn around
Don't ever leave
A lonely room where empty days
Are gathering to meet me when you're gone, gone
How in the world will I go on

(Don't walk away)
All you gotta do is stay
(Don't walk away)
All you gotta do is stay
(Don't walk away)

Don't walk away (don't walk away),
Don't say goodbye (don't say goodbye)
Don't turn around (don't turn around),
Don't let it die (don't let it die)
When shadows fall (when shadows fall),
When day is done (when day is done)
All through the night (all through the night),
All of my life (all of my life)
Don't walk away

Is it a dream,
When will it end
When everything we've ever known
Has ended and I'm all alone

Where will I go
Where will I be
The feelings that I've never shown
Maybe I'll find the answer when you're gone, gone
How in the world will I go on

(Don't walk away)
All you gotta do is stay
(Don't walk away)
All you gotta do is stay
(Don't walk away)

Don't walk away (don't walk away),
Don't say goodbye (don't say goodbye)
Don't turn around (don't turn around),
Don't let it die (don't let it die)
When shadows fall (when shadows fall),
When day is done (when day is done)
All through the night (all through the night),
All of my life (all of my life)
Don't walk away

One of my all time favorite songs....

Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me

I can't light
No more of your darkness
All my pictures
Seem to fade to black and white
I'm growing tired
And time stands still before me
Frozen here
On the ladder of my life

It's much too late
To save myself from falling
I took a chance
And changed your way of life
But you misread
My meaning when i met you
Closed the door
And left me blinded me by the light

Don't let the sun go down on me
Although i search myself,
It's always someone else i see
I'd just allow a fragment of your life
To wander free
But losing everything
Is like the sun going down on me

I can't find
Oh, the right romantic line
But see me once
And see the way feel

Don't discard me (baby don't)
Just because you think i mean your harm
(just because you think i mean your harm, oh)
But these cuts i have, cuts i have
They need love
(they need love, they need love)
To help them heal

Oh, don't let the sun go down on me
Although i search myself,
It's always someone else i see
I'd just allow a fragment of your life
To wander free
Cause' losing everything
Is like the sun going down on me

Don't let the sun go down on me
Although i search myself,
It's always someone else i that see, yeah
I'd just allow a fragment of your life
To wander free baby oh
Cause' losing everything
Is like the sun going down on me

Iron Maiden - Blood Brothers

And if you're taking a walk through the garden of life
What do you think you'd expect you would see?
Just like a mirror reflecting the moves of your life
And in the river reflections of me

Just for a second a glimpse of my father I see
And in a movement he beckons to me
And in a moment the memories are all that remain
And all the wounds are reopening again

We're blood brothers, we're blood brothers
We're blood brothers, we're blood brothers

And as you look all around at the world in dismay
What do you see, do you think we have learned
Not if you're taking a look at the war-torn affray
Out in the streets where the babies are burned

We're blood brothers, we're blood brothers
We're blood brothers, we're blood brothers

There are time when I feel I'm afraid for the world
There are times I'm ashamed of us all
When you're floating on all the emotion you feel
And reflecting the good and the bad

Will we ever know what the answer to life really is?
Can you really tell me what life is?
Maybe all the things that you know that are precious to you
Could be swept away by fate's own hand

We're blood brothers, we're blood brothers
We're blood brothers, we're blood brothers

When you think that we've used all our chances
And the chance to make everything right
Keep on making the same old mistakes
Makes untipping the balance so easy
When we're living our lives on the edge
Say a prayer on the book of the dead

We're blood brothers, we're blood brothers
We're blood brothers, we're blood brothers

And if you're taking a walk through the garden of life....
