Hi all. I am a newbiew and live in CT. I have a quick question. I heard from someone the other day there is a house here in Northford, CT and is off of Route 17 that is haunted. Once a year in Feb. the house rebuilds itself then on Feb 3rd it will set itself on fire. Does anyone know anything about this? I have searched the internet and can't find anything about it. Thanks.
I would have to take a stab in the dark and say someone is pulling your leg...
If there was a house that on a certain day rebuilds it self and sets itself on fire there would be 200 news cameras there on that day waiting to catch it..or at least a few people with video cams posting it on you tube or something.

I am an old old patient at Altobello ( Undercliff ) and it is NOT what everyone talks about what it was. It was a place for troubled kids of all kinds, mostly drug addicts. I myself was addicted to drugs and suicidal, and that is why I was there.
There are a few things that are correct though. I read how the top of the building was burned ( that would be where the kitchen was ). There were not many many many beds in one room. There were many rooms with 2 beds, maybe 3.
There was a room where you were put if you got " out of hand " .
There was also a pool table so we can play pool & a TV room.
We had sessions there where we would talk about problems.
There were 2 sides to the big building on the top of the hill. I was on the left side.
There was a place outside that was fenced with bobwire. That is were we were able to get fresh air, I would guess. You earned points if you behaved. Once you earned enough points you were able to goto the Rainbow House. That house was almost like across the way. You were able to walk there with the staff. It was nothing more than a game house. Nothing but games, books, tv, video games. I ran away after making it to be able to go there. And everyone brace themselves, after running away from that hell hole, I came back because I had nowhere else to go. I made friends in there. We made a song "Welcome to the Hotel Altobello". Lastly, there was the house down the road a little bit. I can not remember the name of that house, but I called it the freedom house. You were able to come and go as you please ( on grounds of course ), you were able to have weekend visits home. I was there for about 8 months, and I have to say, thinking about it all as I am older and I would say wiser, the staff was not bad people. I thought they were when I was there, but they were just doing their jobs. As for it being haunted... I don't know if it is NOW... Like I said, I was there for 8 months and the only thing I ever heard were the screams of the kids being put in the ROOM because they didn't want to be in there, I know I didn't.
Also I read about Elmcrest - I was there too - that was a fricking country club to me. Compared to Altobello, I would take Elmcrest over Altobello anytime.
Hello Bender,
I know its been a year since youve made this post but I just wanted to say that I was also a " resident"at Altobello when I was younger in the late 80's after a suicide attempt. I can confirm that everything you've said is correct about the place.
Thanks - We probably knew each other. Now that would be freaky. Here it is 20 years later.

I've never heard anything abut it being haunted because people don't last in there long enough. It is structurally unsafe, my sister said the floors are really weak and there were many places they didn't feel safe to walk on.
I heard it is now used for police traning and drills and such. My friend went there when there was a training go on, her and her friends got escorted downtown and had to fill out a police report.
The main building there is the Kettle building, I suppose tht's the one most trespassed.
Everytime I drive by it freaks me out. I believe there are two cemeteries there, though I can only recognize the Jewish one with the chapel across the street.
I've never gone in myself, and I believe if i ask for permission I'd get ridiculed and rejected. I get freaked out everytime I drive by and more often then not see a securite truck or a cop driving around the property.

Cedarcrest off of the Berlin Tpke is located near the Cedarcrest Hospital. It is frequently patrolled by police (which is why my friends and I did not enter the building). Their is no real parking without being spotted from the road, and the asylum itself has electricity and motion lights when you pull into the parking lot of the asylum. On the other side of the road their seems to be a maintenance facility thats still in use. Other than that it looks like a freaky place and im sure my gang will be back with a better game plan. Keep ya posted.LOL thanks!!If anyone can find you info on it, it will be Ange!
There are several in CT: Fairfield Hills(Newtown), Connecticut Valley Hospital(Middletown)*still open in most buildings*, Cedarcrest(off Berlin Tpke) *also mostly open*, there's one in Meriden but I can't remember the name....can't even get near it though, the road itself is "No Tresspassing". If you could give me a location I could get photos and history on it.

There was a road closed sign and i'm wondering if the old asylum is down that road.

to racheyrach: I've been in the Asylum in Newington. The room with the light on is a room surrounded by blue tiles. For some reason this light is always on in this room. Next to that room is where they have all the old hospital beds and such. Pretty Interesting place. Let me give u some info for next time u go.
Dont Jump the fence, theres a hole in it, look for it. What seems to be freezers to hold bodies is in the basement is on the north side, you cant really miss it, it's at the end of the hall, past the old washers and dryers. In the room with the light on there is what seems to be blood stains on the wall, probably recent, maybe a prank. On the third floor there is a room with a tipped over ladder and an old chair. Thats the best place to sit and hopefully record EVPs or what ever. Also the elevator is stopped on the 3rd floor with the doors open. If you want more info on the old asylum in Newington Email me @ zerogroundz@gmail.com. I will be making or receiving blueprints of the asylum also if anyone wants a copy.
And in response to impy: Im going to be posting pictures and maybe videos as soon as i get them on the computer of our trip to the asylum in newington. We had two video cameras running, one with "night shot" and the other without. And hopefully after my friends come back from the asylum tonight i will have more pictures to show
Hey Tim
Got a few questions for you...Firstly what day/hour is the best time to enter the asylum without getting arrested ha. My gang and I went to the asylum tonight and we split up...2 people watching the roads and my friend StuntmanMike and I entered. We took a few photos down the corridors but didnt find the stairwell. If you could send us a blueprint that would be cool also. We parked in a neighborhood and walked to the asylum which is next to a couple of abandon buildings and a road close gate...dont know where that goes. If you could help us out and send us that blueprint that would be great. Blutightsredcape@yahoo.com... Thanks.

We at Ghostvillage DO NOT condone any type of illegal activity, whether it is done in the pursuit of paranormal research or otherwise.
With that being said, the Member Guidelines for the message boards have been updated to include number 7: Any post or material that contains a reference to any type of illegal activity (such as trespassing, use of illegal substances, or any other activity that is deemed illegal) shall be removed from the boards without warning.
This means that if you post something that is illegal, your post or material will be removed from public view. You will not be given a warning, it will just be removed. No explanation will be given.
Notice I said that it will be removed from public view. That does not mean that the material will be deleted, but it will be removed and logged so that we are able to keep it as a record. The first time you violate Guideline #7, the material will be removed. The second time, your account will be suspended for 48 hours. The third offense will result in the removal of your account from GV.
This is something that we take very seriously. GV is here to promote the paranormal world, to get people talking about it and thinking about it, to give people a place to come and talk about their experiences and find others who can relate. We want to do this in a positive way. Illegal activity involved with the paranormal world casts a very negative light on things and we will not condone that, be part of that, or accept it.

Okay folks. Here's a friendly reminder on Ghost Village's policy on posts dealing with illegal activities, such as tresspassing. Please Read it, as this thread is heading in that direction. This is the only warning. I don't want to have to remove this thread. Thanks for your cooperation.

lots of good stories on here. I am pretty much a novice to this stuff, and I am interested in many of these asylums etc. How would one go about doing it the right way. A few of my friends and I like to check these palces out. WE dont cause damage, make a mess or do things wrong. All of this permission stuff seems so time consuming. Are there any places to go that I wont get arrested at for just being curious???

all of the ct asylums are quite easy to get in to if you put the effort in and none of them are haunted
effort as in illegally trespassing?
